Recapping week five in the Pac-12 with a Beavers flex and USC and Washington escaping on the road
02/10/2023 Duration: 01h25minIn this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio to recap all of the exciting action that was week five of Pac-12 football that featured a Friday night ranked-on-ranked matchup in Corvallis and a couple of near upset bids over a couple of conference favorites. The Conference of Champions slate of games got off to a great start Friday night when Utah hit the road to take on Oregon State. The Beavers bounced back nicely from their loss in Pullman and took care of the Utes 21-7. For the second week in a row Utah only managed 7 offensive points and while they did a nice job of shutting down OSU's ground game, their inability to offense was too much to overcome in the newly renovated and vibrant Reser Stadium. There were three near upsets to discuss with Colorado giving USC all it could handle in Boulder, Arizona falling just short against Washington in Tucson and Arizona State blowing a chance to get a road win at California. Oregon looked like they were on upset a

Recapping Pac-12 week three football games and previewing the first week of conference play
20/09/2023 Duration: 01h45minIn this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio recapping what was a less than interesting week of Pac-12 football where the Conference of Champions finished 9-2 in out of conference play. The guys also preview the first week of full conference games that includes three ranked Pac-12 matchups. With USC on a bye week, the remaining seven ranked Pac-12 programs won their contests including a closer than expected double-OT thriller in Boulder, a Washington waxing in East Lansing and the Ducks drubbing Hawaii in Eugene. The big news came from the bottom of the conference where Arizona State got skunked by Fresno State and Stanford lost to Troy Taylor's old squad Sacramento State. Obviously, the Sun Devils and the Cardinal occupy the basement in our Pac-12 Power Rankings. Now that the majority of out of conference play is in the books, it's time for the cream to rise to the top with Pac-12 conference play! This week No. 19 Colorado is on the road taking on No. 10 O

14/09/2023 Duration: 01h24minIn this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio previewing all of the Pac-12 action from week three of the 2023 college football season. It was another strong showing for the Conference of Champions last week with a 7-3 out of conference record including four wins against Power Five opposition. This weekend isn't nearly as exciting with several FCS opponents on the schedule, but 7 of the 8 ranked Pac-12 teams will be taking the field trying to make the final season a memorable one. The most intriguing matchup involves the No. 8 ranked Washington Huskies on the road taking on future Big Ten opponent Michigan State with head coach Mel Tucker suspended without pay. As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat. DON'T FORGET TO ENTER YOUR PAC-12 SURVIVAL POOL PICKS HERE!!! Saturday morning things started off great for the Pac-12 with Colorado's resounding win over Nebraska at home and Utah surviving their road trip to Baylor. Later in the day Washington rolled, Oregon squeaked by Texas Tech on the road and Arizona looked sloppy at Mississippi State, falling in overtime for the conference's first loss of the season. Washington State posted the most impressive win for the Pac-12 beating Wisconsin at home, UCLA rolled on the road against Pac-12 killer San Diego State and Oregon State had no problems with FCS UC Davis for the grand opening of the renovated Reser Stadium. Pac-12 goes unscathed in week one including Colorado's huge TCU upset and Califord to the ACC
04/09/2023 Duration: 01h37minIn this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio to recap an absolutely stunning weekend of Pac-12 football where everyone, and we mean everyone, scored more points than their opposition. Including USC's week zero win, the Conference of Champions is 13-0 to start it's final season in existence and is the first conference to start off with 13 wins since at least 1980. Coach Prime and Colorado were the talk of week one, stunning No. 17 TCU on the road behind impressive performances behind Travis Hunter on both sides of the ball and quarterback Shedeur Sanders who threw for 510 yards and four touchdowns. Cal scored 50 points for the first time since 2016, Utah clobbered Florida missing several key starters, Oregon scored 81, Washington rolled over Boise State, Oregon State dominated a tough San Jose State squad on the road and Arizona State sneaked out a win during a haboob dust storm that delayed their game nearly three hours. The guys breakdown what impressed th

22/08/2023 Duration: 01h39minIn this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio talking about actual Pac-12 football as we are just days away from the kickoff of the 2023 college football season. They also begin their game previews and picks against the spread in this episode (with only week zero game on the schedule), San Jose State visiting USC on Saturday night. The show starts off with the breaking news that USC has hired away Jennifer Cohen from Washington to become the Trojans new athletic director. It should be an exciting final season in the Pac-12 with as many as six teams in the mix to win the last Conference of Champions championship. On paper the Pac-12 appears to have an upper class and a middle class and it will be interesting to see if any of those lower ranked teams

Part one of our Pac-12 football previews (actual football talk)
10/08/2023 Duration: 01h52minIn this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio and NOT talking about conference realignment (well, maybe a little). With the opening weekend of the 2023 college football season just a couple of weeks away the guys jump right in with their Pac-12 previews. For months all of the focus has been on the pending demise of the Pac-12 conference, which finally came to fruition last week. But the last year of the Conference of Champions should be an epic one, with half the conference having a legit shot at winning the title, several of the top quarterbacks in the country and three exciting new coaches including Coach Prime in Colorado. This week the focus is on previewing the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Colorado Buffaloes, Oregon State Beavers, USC Trojans and the UCLA Bruins. After the previews the guys talk about the latest rumors surrounding Cal and Stanford potentially going to the ACC, what could happen with Washington State and Oregon State and t

EMERGENCY Podcast of Champions - RIP to the premier athletic conference on the West Coast
05/08/2023 Duration: 02h13sIn another special EMERGENCY episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back discussing the sad and disappointing news that the Pac-12, the premier athletic conference on the West Coast for more than 100 years, is dead. The Conference of Champions was listing for the past 13 months after it's hull was breached by the USC and UCLA defection torpedoes. There was a path to save the ship but commissioner George Kliavkoff seemingly made the situation worse at every turn, allowing for the final death blow from Oregon and Washington on Friday followed by Arizona, Arizona State and Utah getting off the sinking ship thanks to a Big 12 life raft. The guys talk about this shocking development that comes just two weeks after the commissioner assured the college football world on Pac-12 Media Day that everything was going to alright. It wasn't and it wasn't close. Now we have to wait and see what happens with the remaining four members, Stanford, California, Oregon State and Washington Stat

The rumored Pac-12 media rights deal & more potential Big Ten expansion
03/08/2023 Duration: 01h25minIn this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio talking about the reported new Pac-12 media rights deal that commissioner George Kliavkoff presented to the remaining nine presidents and chancellors. According to reports the top deal on the table is heavy into streaming with Apple TV carrying the majority of the games with a separate Pac-12 package that would be available for purchase. The reported revenue is below what the Big 12 has with ESPN and Fox, but there are revenue boosters that kick in when more fans subscribe. There is also multiple reports that the Big Ten is looking to expand further with their sights set on Oregon and Washington with the possibility of adding Stanford and California as well. Clemson and Florida State were also mentioned, but both of those programs are locked up for years with the ACC's grant of rights deal. Recapping Pac-12 Media Day from Las Vegas
22/07/2023 Duration: 55minPodcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods were in Las Vegas for the 2023 Pac-12 Media Day, the first such event in Vegas and the last event that USC and UCLA will be a part of. Commissioner George Kliavkoff hasn't spoken publicly this calendar year despite all of the negative press surrounding the Conference of Champions' lack of a media rights deal. Most felt the unofficial deadline for announcing the new TV rights was on Pac-12 Media Day, but Kliavkoff made it clear from the jump that there would be no such announcement yet. He wanted the focus to be on the football (which should be the best we've seen in a decade) but unfortunately there has been so much buildup and anticipation for this media rights deal that the focus couldn't be on anything but the survivability of the conference. Everyone knows that without at least a decent TV contract that brings much needed revenue to the Pac-12 athletic departments there is a legitimate chance that at least one or two members could bounce. If that hap

All-Pac-12 Preseason squad by position plus Media Day preview
13/07/2023 Duration: 01h26minIn this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio counting down towards Pac-12 Media Day by going over their preseason All-Pac-12 teams by position including projecting the 2023 pecking order for all of the teams in the conference. The Pac-12 sent out their preseason media ballots so the guys go over who they selected and discuss their picks to win the conference in the final Pac-12 season that will include USC and UCLA. With just over a week before the media gather in Las Vegas for Pac-12 Media Day, the conference still hasn't announced their long awaited media rights deal. The guys talk about the possibility that commissioner George Kliavkoff doesn't have a deal in place by media day. If there is no deal the focus will certainly be on the uncertain future of the conference with no television contract instead of the stacked upper half of the conference, the stable of high caliber quarterbacks including the reigning Heisman Trophy winner in Caleb Williams and ne

Ranking top head coaches in the Pac-12 plus NCAA's take on NIL collectives
29/06/2023 Duration: 01h22minIn this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio trying to figure out what they can talk about while everyone patiently waits for the long awaited announcement of the new Pac-12 media rights deal. To help pass the time the guys bring in Dave Bartoo, co-founder of Matrix Analytical, to talk about where the head coaches in the Pac-12 are ranked according to his analytical data analysis. They have USC head coach Lincoln Riley as the No. 3 head coach in the country and tops in the Pac-12, but he's on the same tier as two other Pac-12 head coaches. Bartoo goes over a few tiers of head coaches with Riley at the top and brand new head coaches (with no data) like Kenny Dillingham at the bottom. They guys also talk about the new NCAA memo that addresses how colleges and their respective collectives should be handling Name, Image and Likeness for student athletes. Will this memo have any teeth and scare off some of the more aggressive collectives out there? Probably not,

More Pac-12 media rights rumors continues plus SDSU tries a power move
20/06/2023 Duration: 01h18minIn this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio talking about the latest rumors surrounding the pending Pac-12 media rights deal including the potential of an uneven split of post season generated revenue and a rather low annual number floated out there by WildcatAuthority publisher Jason Scheer. The Atlantic Coast Conference has already discussed trying to appease its power members with uneven splits of College Football Playoff bonuses and NCAA Tournament bonuses, giving the postseason participants a greater share. There has been talk that the Pac-12 is discussing a similar strategy, rewarding programs that invest more into their revenue sports. The guys also talk about San Diego State informing the Mountain West Conference of their intent to leave and their request for an extension of their June 30 deadline for official departure notification (afterwards their exit fee would go from $17 million to $34 million). SDSU doesn't have a destination yet, presumably
