God is calling us to grow people in Christ who bear fruit in the world. Our mission plan for our future - titled A Time to Plant - outlines the ways that we will grow and change as a church. Through the Holy Spirit, we will gather, worship, learn, help, and share as we grow together in faith and make a noticeable impact on our communities and the world to the glory of God. We dream of being a family in Christ, where people of all kinds can grow in Christ and bear fruit in the world. We want to be welcoming for everyone, in all of the rich diversity that God has created. This Affirming Sunday we ask ourselves what it means to be welcoming to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. The sermon was delivered by Mitchell Anderson. Christ is risen! Sorrow may endure for the night, but joy comes with the dawn. We celebrate the resurrection of the Lord each year, telling the story again of how Jesus Christ in his resurrection is making all things new. As a servant people we model our lives on Jesus Christ, who shows his faithfulness to God's love and justice by dying for the world on the Cross. The fourth in our series for Lent on the fruit of the Spirit, we explore the kindness and goodness of God who creates all things and declares them to be good, and ask ourselves what it means to bear the fruit of kindness and goodness in our lives, just like God our Creator is kind and good. God is good and made all things to be good, and in God's kindness God joins us as Jesus, the Word made flesh, God's own self become part of the creation. The third in our series for Lent on the fruit of the Spirit, we explore what it means to be a patient people as each day we wait for Jesus to come again into our lives and our world. As we consider what it means to be patient, we reflect on big questions: what happens to us when we die? What happens to our world at the end of time? Jesus calls his followers disciples because we are all students of the way of Jesus, learning together how to live with compassion, love, gentleness, and justice in our time. The second in our five part series on the work that God has given us as a church, we reflect on what it means to worship as disciples of Jesus Christ. In worship we are transformed, given a new imagination for the beauty of the world and God's action in the world for us. As a worshipping community, we come together in acts of worship to warm our hearts that we might change the world. We believe that God has gifted our church to the world as a good work (Philippians 1:6). Each week we will be exploring a different way that God has called us to serve God and the world. This week we explored the theme "we gather" as God calls us to be a family, a community, where all are welcome as we are to engage in a community seeking a more inclusive world where all are one. As Knox United gathered for our annual meeting, we reflected on words written to another church a long time ago, about how the church is like a body with many members, each different, each needed one another, and together working for the common good. Each year the Church celebrates the week of prayer for Christian unity. But what does unity mean in our time? How can we pursue justice, and only justice, as we respond to Jesus' prayer that all may be one? The Baptism of the Lord celebrates when Jesus was baptised, and reminds us of our calling as a baptised and baptising people for our hearts to be transformed by Jesus for the sake of the world. Our teaching was delivered by Mitchell Anderson. Our teaching text was Luke 3:1-22.

The Epiphany of the Lord celebrates when wise people from the East came to offer Jesus gifts. They were transformed by their encounter with him, just as Jesus transforms our lives and transforms the world. The sermon was delivered by Mitchell Anderson and the Scripture readings are Isaiah 60:1-6 and Matthew 2:1-12

Merry Christmas! Each we celebrate the mystery of the Incarnation, how God walks with us as Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh who reconciles and makes new. The sermon was delivered by Mitchell Anderson, our student minister, and was based on Isaiah 9:2-7, Philippians 2:1-11, and Luke 2:1-14.
