BAIA Talks - Barbara Bullock's thoughts on Kara Walker
19/09/2017 Duration: 13minI first met Barbara Bullock while attending the opening reception and lecture of A Collaborative Language: Selection from the Experimental Printmaking Institute (EPI) now in the permanent collection of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) on September 15th, 2017 we both were exhibiting in. I introduced myself to her. She quickly mentioned how she has been a long standing member of Black Art In America and visits the site often. I don’t know how we got on the subject. I was scheduled to call Moe Brooker to drop by his studio for a visit and that’s when she said I should visit her and she was close by. The following audio, video and pictures will act as archives of the time we spent getting to know one another and quickly becoming fast friends. I will always remember that day in Germantown, the other side of Philly. – Najee Dorsey SUBSCRIBE & LIKE for more podcasts #BAIAtalksPODCAST BLACK ART IN AMERICA™ (BAIA) is a leading online portal and network focused on African-American Art with visitor

BAIA Talks - Spy Boy Dow Edwards at BAIA Fine Art Show Houston Oct 27-29
28/08/2017 Duration: 01minDOW MICHAEL EDWARDS - Partner in the law firm of Irwin, Fritchie, Urquhart & Moore LLC and a member of the Mohawk Hunters Mardi Gras Indian tribe. For Spyboy Dow, making a suit has become a very spiritual process because it causes him to reflect on what his ancestors had to go through not only as enslaved people, but in the throes of segregation in city of New Orleans. “The reasons the Indians are out there is because black folks could not go out on St. Charles Avenue and participate in the Mardi Gras parades. "There is no more glorious feeling than I felt the first time and every time since I put on my suit on Mardi Gras day. It is one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done.” - Dow Edwards SUBSCRIBE & LIKE for more podcasts #BAIAtalksPODCAST BLACK ART IN AMERICA™ (BAIA) is a leading online portal and network focused on African-American Art with visitors from over 100 countries visiting our site each month and about half a million visitors to our social media pages.
