John 1:14 presents the distilled essence of Christmas. The eternal Son of God took a place among men and in all humility revealed the glory of God, all to save sinners.

"Churches helping churches" was modeled by the early church. Their example was of generous, cheerful and enthusiastic support; genuine Christ-like giving as an act of worship.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Peter (and John) obeyed God in speaking Gospel Truth despite objections, opposition and persecution from worldly authorities. Persecution cannot ultimately suppress Truth.

Peter's comprehension of the truth about Jesus is perfected at the Day of Pentecost. From that time forward, Peter, through the work of the Holy Spirit, fully understood and boldly proclaimed the Gospel.

Peter's denial of Jesus left him heartbroken, lost, and humbled. His restoration was an example of Christ's love and grace, and His teaching that loving Himself is expressed by loving His flock.

Peter's example teaches that self-reliance (vs. trusting God), and neglect of prayer lead to powerlessness instead of victory.

The love of God and the grace lavished on us by Christ's work at the cross is to be extended to others, not kept inside.

Peter's denial at the time of Jesus' arrest reveals the pitfall of self-confidence and the pain and devastation that results when we fail to seek and rely on Divine guidance.
