With the hot summer weather moving in, now is a good time to review proper watering amounts and techniques. Peter gives you the amount of water to give your garden when we get dry spells with little rain like we have now and how to make your watering most effective for your plants.

How can you keep fresh vegetables on your dinner table through the freezing Vermont winters? Peter goes over which produce you can store longer in a cold cellar, what you can can, ferment, or pickle, and some more shelf stable recipes like pesto and salsa to take advantage of your upcoming vegetable harvest and make some delicious food even in the middle of winter.

Peter picks up where we left off last week discussing composting in Vermont and how you can apply composting best practices to your garden to help it grow without the need for spending money on the best fertilizers or soil.

Composting used to be a practice only performed by gardeners. But with the new state laws on composting and landfills, just about all Vermonters are composting in 2021. Peter answers your compost questions, from bins to ratios and more.

Now there are the beginnings of reports that it has It likes to feast on  members of the Allium family including onions, garlic, leeks, chives and shallots. Peter gives his recommendations on how to protect your plants. And he also goes over how to protect from Japanese beetle, a common pest in Vermont.
