Off Duty Ads

The Off Duty ADs respond to a variety of listener mail and random topics.  They also discuss the Black Sox anniversary, recruiting Pop Warner players, Big Ten rock fights, protocol during a blowout, transgender policies, making a difference in the job place, learning on the job, finding your support structure, random phone calls about the quality of umpiring, and additional fan talks.

The Off Duty ADs talk about hosting special events on their game days.  They also discuss the first game in Ryan's new stadium, Coug'n It with Joe from WA, character programs, Uncle Bill's Corner, appreciating our officials, homecoming, guessing at the weather, live email reads, appreciation nights, Mike's mom, a tricky code of conduct violation, a mildly sports-related movie, a Beastie Boys meme, and a live beverage suggestion from a long-time listener.

The Off Duty ADs talk about some of their game-day crowd policies.  They also discuss a long autumn for their fandom, Uncle Bill's Corner, managing junior high students at high school contests, who supervises whom at games, students being held captive, outside food and beverage, clear bag policies, figuring out what you can control, unwanted waste on the artificial turf, using a track long before it's ready, Christian Moerlein Brewery, and an attempted movie tease that ends up more as a spoiler.

The Off Duty ADs talk about their facility checks before the fall seasons start.  They also discuss the MLB trade deadline including Mike's White Sox complete lack of action, a much different Uncle Bill's Corner, highly paid coaches, checking the integrity of both stands and bus seats, missing flags and partial announcements, forgetting the details, pulling out the old bleachers, AD duct tape, more problems at Ryan's soccer field, Mark's Year of Tom content, a return to New Belgium brewery with a not-recommended selection, and again managing the ending without Mike.

The Off Duty ADs discuss hiring coaches at the last minute.  They also discuss Ryan recording on location, recap Mark's trip to Baltimore, NFL tickets, packaging teaching and coaching jobs together, processing new hires as quickly as possible, factors that reduce applicant pools, the absolutes to get a new coach started, an insect attack, prioritizing the non-message message, the Year of Tom, Mike admits to a bad Tom movie, Heavy Seas beverage selections, pirates in North Dakota, and suspect timekeeping.

The Off Duty ADs talk about hosting interns and the curriculum of advanced degrees.  They also try out a new introduction, cover for a missing Mike, the Cubs addition, answer listener mail, faulty state brewery rankings, sports management and athletic administration degrees, unsuccessfully avoid generation generalizations, learning by doing, the problem with short internships and shadowing, Ryan foolishly figures out his hourly wage, Mark and Ryan have two very different interpretations of a fan suggestion but place the blame on our attempt to set rules.
