Karl Karlsen is a 59 year old man who has lived through many difficult tragedies in his life. He lost his wife and his son on separate occasions. Regardless of these awful tragedies, he still appeared to be thriving in life, even being considered a local hero for saving his children from a fire. Hate crimes are a despicable and evil thing that unfortunately exists in this crazy world. In 2017 alone, there were 8,828 victims of various hate crimes, reported by police in just the United States. This was nearly a 6% increase from 2016. The vast majority of these crimes were motivated by the targets ethnicity. Something that is 100% beyond their control. With the rising number of reported hate crimes, it’s not even a surprise anymore when a person reports it. Sometimes, these things happen to celebrities with a large platform, and they often use that platform as a way to raise awareness and try to make a difference. Tatiana Thibes was a girl from the Los Angeles area. She was only 6 years old when her father began to put her through something no child should ever have to live through. He would sexually abuse her when her mother was away. But it didn’t just stop there. For several years, he drugged and assaulted his little girl regularly, even causing her to become pregnant on 4 separate occasions. It was March 23, 2015, in the early afternoon. Around 1:55pm, the police department in Vallejo, California received a call from a man named Aaron Quinn, telling them that his girlfriend had been taken by masked intruders and that he didn’t know where she had gone. He told them he had witnessed the whole kidnapping, but couldn’t report it right away because he’d been blindfolded, drugged, and threatened not to call the police. He told police that she disappeared between the time he dropped her off at home, and picked up his biological daughter, Sarah from a friend’s house. He continued to tell police where he suspected she’d gone. Alissa had talked frequently about going to live with her Aunt in California, and Michael felt she had finally done it. The department, already having many missing people reported, assumed that she was a runaway and would turn up soon. But Alissa’s disappearance would end up becoming much more complicated.
