Jacob went on his Journey But where he was going is not where we are, why talk about this now!? Good morning! It's a Jewish custom to announce at the end of Shabbat Braishit, which was yesterday, "Jacob went on his Journey" The sentiment seems to be, "Hey, we had a great holiday season, let's take the inspiration and get to work!" But the truth is that where Jacob was going seems to be incongruous to where we are headed. The verse Jacob went on his Journey is referring to Jacob's return to Israel and his saintly father Isaac. But we? are we going home or leaving home? To understand this we have to know a little about the coming of Moshiach, the purpose of the whole journey.  When Moshiach comes, we will not only experience G-dliness and light in a holy temple in Jerusalem, the whole world will be full of G-d's light.
