There are many different family dynamics in the world and each family picks the style that works for them. For one of Richard and Linda's kids the style is to stay at home with the young kids now, when his peers are working, and then go to work hard later in life, when his peers are retiring. There are many different parenting styles and so the key is finding out what will be the best for your family.

The Eyres subscribe to the idea that the best thing you can do for your children is to love your spouse. The strength of your relationship is going to have a positive effect on the strength of your parenting. No matter what each parent's responsibilities are outside the home, they need to present a united front to the kids. Richard and Linda also discuss how separated parents can still work together for the kids.

Whether it's a country or a family, every institution needs a few things to operate. Some of the most important of these are Laws, Economy, and Traditions. Most families do these to some extent, having house rules, an allowance, and rituals or patterns; but Richard and Linda today encourage you to write them down. Make it clear to the whole family how these things will work and everyone will understand them better.

We all live in a diverse world and that means kids can be exposed to all sorts of different cultures. We all know that sometimes kids are the best at just saying the first thing that comes to their heads, so how can we better teach them to be respectful and tolerant of people that look or act different from the way they do. Richard and Linda talk today about that and how kids are actually much better at being colorblind than we might think.

Richard and Linda have had a blast being grandparents, and it's a totally different dynamic than it was when they were parents. Grandpas and Grandmas can bring special things to the table that are separate from each other and the Eyres share some of their insights on that today.
