The Chrysalis Zone show on December 6, 2018 features Part II with our special guest, Dr. Lori M. Hobson. She returns to the Chrysalis Zone to talk about her newly released book, “Strong is Not a Four-Letter Word: The Power of Resilience”. Lori has a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. For sixteen years, she was an integral part of Norfolk State University Counseling Center’s leadership team. In addition to providing individual, group, and crisis counseling, she supervised graduate interns. She also worked with undergraduate Peer Educators to develop and deliver essential educational programming related to life skills. Most recently, Dr. Lori has been using her considerable skills as a Personal Life Coach and a faculty member at South University and Stratford University. This week on Gay’s PSA, our topic will be domestic violence awareness with guest Ishaunna Gully-Bettiss, who was paralyzed from the waist down in a domestic violence incident in March 2002 at the tender age of 20 years old. Ishaunna works with LIFE of Mississippi were her 1st position was a Transition Specialist for 6 years helping young people in 17 counties in the state of Mississippi.  Ishaunna now is the Program Coordinator for Speak2ME, whose mission empower people to speak out and protect themselves against bullying, domestic violence, and any form of discrimination. Ishaunna has been able to impact thousands through her motivational speaking at schools, churches, college campuses, organizations, and other venues.

On this week’s episode of Gay’s PSA, I will have Dr. Tonya Dennis on the air with me.  Dr. Dennis is the author of The Principal’s List Essential Practices for Administrative Success and has served as an educator for over twenty-five years.  Dr. Dennis spent 12 and 1/2 of those years as a middle school principal where she served as a “turn around” administrator to increase student achievement in schools identified as low performing. In each assignment, students made significant gains and sometimes academically exceeded magnet schools. Additionally, Dr. Dennis is nationally certified by the Center for Teacher Effectiveness as an educational coach, speaker and trainer.  The importance of the enhancement of educational effectiveness cannot be overstated so I hope you will join me tomorrow for this incredible conversation.

Tomorrow on Gay’s PSA, I will have Dr. Otis Anderson, III on the air with me. Dr. Anderson is a community psychiatrist practicing in the state of Mississippi. He is currently the lead psychiatrist for Mississippi Behavioral Health Services which serves a rural Medicaid population in 8 of 11 towns in   MS. He is one of ten black psychiatrists that published “Mind Matters” and he also served as the Medical Director for the Chemical Dependency Unit in Batesville, MIssissippi and senior care units at North Oak Regional in Senatobia, Mississippi and at Alliance Healthcare Hospital in Holly Springs, Mississippi. My guests continue to impress and amaze me and I can’t wait for Dr. Anderson to share his wealth of knowledge with my listening audience.

This will be her 4th visit to Gay’s PSA and there is a good reason for me continuing to ask her back.
