Keyra is a high school English teachger by day and a financial literacy educator in her community by night. As an Alumna of Southern University of New Orleans she has passionate about servicing her community. While attending her beloved HBCU one of her professors instilled in her the importance of "cutivating your own community." This inspired her to start a non-profit organization that aims to teach teens and their families like skills such as conflict resolution, social and emotional learning, and most importantly, financial literacy. Her crusade is to rebuild urban communicites through economic empowerment. This week's show of Gay’s PSA, I will have the tenacious and unstoppable Juris Doctor candidate, Ieshia Champs on the air with me.  Her story has gained international attention because Ieshia is the single mother of 5 children: David-14, Davien-12, Khassidy-11, Kaleb-8 and E'mani-5.  She was born in Port Arthur, Texas and currently resides in Houston. While raising 5 children, she received an undergraduate degree at the University of Houston and now, she has completed the requirements to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Thurgood Marshall School of Law on May 11, 2018.  For so many reasons, including the fact that I am a lawyer, a judge and a mom myself, I’m so excited about this show and I know that you will be as moved and inspired by her incredible story as I have been.
