Lee Humphrey is a security expert. He spent some time in Afghanistan during which he had the chance meeting with Joshua Boyle. At the meeting Humphrey tried to disuade Boyle from going hiking into the mountains. We know now that hike would end when Boyle and his wife would be taken hostage by the Taliban.

Alex talks about the prince and princess of pot having been found guilty. Yes, they broke current laws.
