Earth-2.net: The Show

This isn't World's Finest Podcast and it isn't the Is It Wednesday Yet? segment, so why are both James Deaux and Desmond Reddick on Earth-2.net: The Show this week? That's because James and Mike review Justice League: The New Frontier, and then Des joins Mike to discuss Witchblade #116.

In this extra-sized episode, Jenny and Mike discuss their recent trip to Disney World. Highlights include a medical emergency aboard the plane, a lost child, an illness caused by freezing rain, a lackluster movie and a forty-niner. A forty-niner? Yeah, sort of. After that, Jenny and Mike go through the March Previews catalog, and Ian Wilson reviews two Will Smith movies: I Am Legend and Men in Black. Plus: an addition to Earth-2.net is announced!

And the Oscar goes to... oh, wrong award show. James and Mike are here to announce the winners of the Second Annual Earth-2.net Mainpage Awards!

Jenny and Mike might be on vacation, but that doesn't mean they've left you empty-handed. Before heading off to celebrate Mike's 30th birthday, they sat down to record their thoughts about the haunting independent film Right at Your Door.

Cable and Deadpool #50, Mighty Avengers #9, Ultimate Human #2, Ultimate X-Men #91 and Wolverine: Origins #22 are the five comic books reviewed this week by Des and Mike. One of these books splits the guys right down the middle. Can you guess which one?

It's February Previews time! Plus, Jenny and Mike answer a few e-mails, including one about slumping Amazing Spider-Man sales. Mike also plays a very amusing review recorded by Rob Briscoe from the Uncanny X-Cast.

This week Des and Mike took a look at Fantastic Four #554 (the first of 16 issues by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch), Fantastic Four: The Lost Adventure (a hidden "gem" by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and friends), Ghost Rider #20 (in which Jason Aaron and Roland Boschi began their run), Marvel Adventures Hulk #8 (starring the Defenders) and Punisher: Force of Nature (wherein the Punisher stalks three men lost at sea).

Of the five comics Des and Mike reviewed this week -- Clandestine #1, Lords of Avalon: Sword of Darkness #1, Marvel Illustrated: Moby Dick #1, The Twelve #2 and Uncanny X-Men #495 -- it's suggested that two be added to your pull list, and one is said to be a "modern classic in the making." Also, a Marvel Illustrated book finally impresses both men.

Ewoks, Captain America #34, vacations, birthdays and fanboys are discussed. Oh yeah, Jenny and Mike also review the Danny Boyle film Sunshine.

After Mike makes an announcement about episode 200, he and Des review five comic books slated for release this week: The Darkness #2, Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four #32, Spider-Man: With Great Power... #1, What If? Spider-Man vs. Wolverine and Witchblade #114.

Mike rants about the way the media handled Heath Ledger's death, Jenny reveals her sexy side and together they review the Skinwalkers DVD.

This week Des and Mike review two indy comic books (Afterburn #1 by Red 5 Comics, and Salem #0 from BOOM! Studios) as well as three Marvel books (Ultimate Fantastic Four #50, Ultimate Iron Man II #2 and World War Hulk Aftersmash: Damage Control #1).

Ian Wilson looks back at the comic book movies of 2007, and then looks forward to what's forthcoming in 2008. Before that, however, Mike lets loose the strangest rant yet, Jenny mourns her puppy-less household and Mike confirms that plans have been set in motion for episode 200.

While reviewing The Immortal Iron Fist #12, Iron Man and Power Pack #3, Marvel Comics Presents #5, New Exiles #1 and World War Hulk Aftersmash: Warbound #2 Des and Mike lost their minds.

On an almost weekly basis, they've told you what comic books to buy, borrow, flip through and skip, but now Desmond Reddick and Michael David Sims take it one step further. In this installment of the Is It Wednesday Yet? segment of Earth-2.net: The Show, they shine a very bright light on the best comic books, creators and publishers of 2007!

For the second show in a row Jenny rants! This time it wasn't the ill treatment of puppies that drew her ire; instead it was... well, telling would spoil the fun. Later the duo dissects the January Previews, but before all that they answer an e-mail concerning their recent I Am Legend discussion.

It's the first show of the new year! First Jenny and Mike discuss Christmas, then Jenny rants about how people treat their dogs. Following that, the duo reviews I Am Legend - the book by Richard Matheson and the movie starring Will Smith. One is loved, the other... not so much.

It isn't often that Des and Mike agree on most of the books they review on the Is It Wednesday Yet? segment, but this is one of those weeks. Only one book had them at different ends of the spectrum. Was it Fantastic Four: Isla de la Muerte, Hulk vs. Fin Fan Foom, Marvel Illustrated: The Picture of Dorian Gray #1, X-Men: First Class #7 or The Zombie: Simon Garth #2?

Movie trailers, the mess that is Spider-Man: One More Day, two errors in Mighty Avengers #6, stolen bras and video game systems, a bomb scare and The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters are all discussed by Jenny and Mike.
