Over the past few weeks, many questions have been coming in regarding the intricacies of a traders routine: How to make one, What to include, What are the psychological impacts. Dr. Woody Johnson joins Merlin to tackle some of these questions live on air. The duo takes a look at several other common trader problems offering personal experiences and solutions in an effort to help traders get on the right track.

The relentless surge in the markets took a swift step back as the markets sold off over 1% on news the Fed may slow its purchasing program which has acted as a catalyst for the current ascent. Steve Moses joins the show to take a look at the current volatility state of the market. Is it too late to buy some protection for your portfolio? Or are options still relatively cheap? The duo covers this as well as looks at some of Steve’s current trades and potential market setups.

Special guest and market veteran Martin Dim and Merlin Rothfeld look at similar market conditions from the past. From 1965-1983 the markets performed the same basic action: Rally to a high, fall back 20-40%, then try again. Every time it broke or challenged a high, it crashed hard. Are these markets different? Mark Thornton is an American economist of the Austrian School. Thornton has been described by the Advocates for Self-Government as "one of America's experts on the economics of illegal drugs." Thornton has written extensively on that topic, as well as on the economics of the American Civil War, economic bubbles, public finance and is an expert on topics that include the Iron Law of Prohibition, the Skyscraper Index and Richard Cantillon. He is a Senior Fellow with the Ludwig von Mises Institute.

Merlin addresses a couple listener questions to shed some light on 2 very popular ways of investing. The first deals with William O’Neil’s CANSLIM methodology which uses many different fundamental analysis ratios to find good candidates. Merlin explains them all and offers listeners suggestions on how to make that method even better. Later, a listener shares an email he received pumping several different stocks as the “Must buy investments”. Merlin talks about the perils of trading using this type of information, and is quick to point out that they are not ALL bad, just most of them! An astute trader can occasionally find decent trading opportunities, but they must have rules and strategies which they follow. These rules can be applied to the “Junk Mail”, weeding out pump and dump trades and focusing on High probability, low risk trading opportunities.  

Brandon Wendell, CMT and XLT instructor, joins Merlin to talk about the huge surge in the 10-year bond rates and what that means for the markets. Could it be giving traders a sign of a much bigger move? Later the duo discuss the recent trades and setups that Brandon has been taking in his XLT Online Mentoring program as well as a Great Oil traded that he took in his Futures trading class this morning. Later, He explains the differences between adjusted and un-adjusted futures data and explains their usage.

John Kicklighter, Sr. Currency Strategies at Dailyfx.com, joins Merlin Rothfeld for an in-depth look at several currency pairs using a mix of technical & Fundamental analysis. John offers insights into the current trajectory of the ballistic USDJPY, looking at several macro factors which may keep the long term prognosis rather bullish. Later The duo look at the Pound and Euro, offering insights as to where these currencies and economies may be headed.

Debi Hague joins Merlin to talk about how she finds trading opportunities, and the upcoming release of her new book “Trade like a Pirate”. After answering a listener question regarding KLAC, Debi points out how important it is to look at what industry/sector the security is in before you make your trading decision. Looking for relative strength for stocks and other assets is important to keep you in strong stocks and out of poor performing ones. This also applies to the Major indexes.

Merlin and John are joined by Dr. Joseph Salerno, economics professor and author of “Money: Sound & Unsound” for an informative session of Power Trading Radio. The trio discuss the Fractional reserve system & the Fed’s role on market manipulation, the impact of going back on the gold standard, solutions for market recovery including the inevitable recession that will come when the fed unwinds its balance sheet.

Paul Buzby, Director of Economic Research at Rare Coin Wholesalers, joins Merlin to break down his recent blog post which addresses 3 key things that will get the American economy back on track. The statistics are staggering, and will potentially propel these markets much higher. Paul also takes a look at some of the key red flags that new coin investors should watch out for when entering in the coin market.
