Drunk On Lettering

Cyla Costa is in the house! We have been fans of hers forever and are so excited to have her on the podcast! She is an amazing designer from Brazil and definitely enjoys a drink or two. We discuss her life there as well as her time in NY, mural painting, and her Weekly Woody project!

Our Houston homie Terence Tang aka Tinlun Studio aka Tinny-Tin is on the podcast this week and he's a gem of a person! We talk about his beard, his shoes, his love of sports, his fam, him business as a letterer, and much much more! He's a man of many skills and a fun dude to talk to!!

Chad Michael is not only one of the most talented people we've had on this podcast, but one of the most hilarious as well! We had such a blast chatting with him for an hour and a half. This weeks episode is a shorty, but a drunkie, and it's our FIRST EVER live Drunk on Lettering episode!! We were invited to Crop Confrence in Baton Rogue, LA to do a live episode on stage and we brought our buddy Adam Vicarelli with us to flip the script and interview us! Matt Dawson and Ashley Arseneaux Jones (aka @smallchalk) give sweet little intros for us and then we kinda get off the rails right away. Sorry for the rambling, slurring, interrupting, etc. etc. etc., being our first time drinking on stage we were nervous AF and drank quite a bit! But Adam Vicarel does a great job of raining us in and maintaining his composure! Overall we talk business, pricing, cheese, the usual things! Crop is an amazing Confrence and we HIGHLY recommend it (or any of their pop up events) to anyone that's into design and lettering. We'll definitely be going to the next one!

We mixed things up a bit for this week by bringing on our lawyer friend, Ms. Tracy Weiss! Tracy enlightens us all with a bit of legal advice, including trademarks vs. copyright, when it's worth it to go small claims, and contract do's and dont's! What could be a dry subject for us creatives is certainly brought to life through the voice of Tracy.

Oh boy, you're in for a real treat, people! We've got Rob Johnston aka the host of Meet the Creatives Podcast!! He is such a hoot to talk to! He gets down and dirty about being a professional networker, his life as a DJ, his crush on Santa Claus, and putting yourself out there! He's a bundle of joy and you're gonna love him!

Adé Hogue is in the house... or should we say we were in Adé's house? In February we had the opportunity to visit his studio and record an episode while we were in Chicago. He is an incredible letterer, athlete, and interior designer. We had major studio envy! We discussed the Chicago lettering scene, his journey to the lettering world, and most importantly... venus fly traps!

We are soooo excited to have Simon Walker on the podcast! He's an amazing lettering artist/designer out of Austin, TX. We had a lot of fun putting him on the spot and getting to know him a little bit! We got the scoop on his alias, "Super Furry", his dream of eating a cheese ball on a stick, we even get him to tell us which of his feet he likes better...riveting stuff!

This episode is all about female empowerment and Anna Drivis! She is a talented letterer and animator all the way in Stockholm, Sweden! We talk about the difference with like in Sweden and the US, being a female entrepreneur, a little bit of politics, cheese, lettering, etc. etc. etc. She is amazing, definitely give it a listen!

Peter Bacallao is a fucking crazy man, dad, and designer from Miami, Florida. We had a blast chatting with him...seriously, there is never a dull moment with this guy! Peter had us laughing the entire time, which goes to show you never know the personality behind the artwork! His branding projects are super clean and we loved talking about his process as well as work/life balance.
