Lots of sporting action from Shaun today, Brendon Julian called through with an update on all things Australian cricket (we’re actually winning!), the guys got in touch with Fremantle AFLW coach Trent Cooper after the girls first away win ever, and Steve Butler called through to chat about the Superbowl - but if course things took a dangerous turn, and the safe word may have been used…. Apparently around half of Australians would turn down a pay rise to take on a job that was more fulfilling. The guys aren’t convinced. That’s until they heard from a few listeners who definitely made them feel like bad people! And the biggest celebrity in Perth right now is the BALDIVIS SINKHOLE! She’s such a diva. Ever wanted to hear a man sing Kylie Minogue songs cabaret style? Even if you don’t - here he is! Michael Griffiths is here for Fringe and he made the guys sing. Don’t worry, your ears wont bleed. Much. Fringe Lotto finished off with a bang – literal bangs that is, as both Bodie and Tegan went home with fringes, cut by Nathan (and luckily fixed by our hairdresser Dave!) With the temperatures in the US reaching record lows, people are being warned not to go outside. We heard from listeners who have had some serious warnings issued to them, including Sherry who was in Hawaii and got the text about the imminent missile, and Kieren who was told about a chemical in the air and completely freaked out. And Liam Bartlett called in to tell the guys about his latest 60 Minutes story – he went to Manila to confront a group of scammers who are taking millions of dollars from unassuming Australians. A fascinating insight into how these scams work, and also a ratings boost from our mate Liam!  See omnys

What a show today! A visit from another McManus and a fully qualified ninja...that’s right, Rove dropped by with his old mate Dave Callan who proved his status with an actual ninja card. They reminisced about old Fringe shows and told stories about their younger days. 34 years later and Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr are still on the air going strong a they’ve even broken the world record. Still, they don’t know each other’s favourite foods and won’t admit to ‘being close’ at all, but they’re very proud of their achievement. Feeling old yet? And Fringe Lotto today was incredible - Wade won $1000 for getting his fringe cut by Nathan! And it looked....baaaaad. His reaction? One of our favourite comedians (well at least in the top 20) Tom Gleeson joined us for a chat about his upcoming Fringe Show, the new series of Hard Quiz and how he was asked to go into the jungle…he said no. Nathan yelled at Ellie at the shops but when she turned around…it wasn’t Ellie. We heard from others who have had problems with doppelgangers, like Lisa - whose parents filmed the wrong girl for her entire dance performance, and Liz, whose husband keeps getting mistaken for Peter Bell. And Peking Duk dropped by the studio for a chat – they’re filming a video for their latest song ‘Sugar’ in Freo! Nathan had some tradies over across the long weekend and when he offered them chocolate they ate the entire block! The guys talked about giving an inch and taking a mile - Jess’s houseguest used much more than she anticipated, and Lisa’s brother in law literally took a mile when he borrowed her car. On Married at First Sight last night, Cyrell’s brother Ivan wasn’t happy with her getting married on the show, and he confronted her new husband about his apparent ‘sickness’ – he was shut down when he was told it was cancer. That’s one super awkward example of putting your foot in it, just like Jen who accidentally bad mouthed her friends wife in front of him, and Jenene who didn’t realise that a friends partner had more than just a sore leg…. And Keith called the guys today. Yes, his name is Keith, and he is 27 years of age. Are there any more young Keith’s? Or for that matter, young Maureen’s? Turns out there are. In the biggest news of the decade - the delicious chocolate delicacy known as the Polly Waffle is BACK! The guys are slightly concerned however, as a piece of memorabilia they treasure may now be worthless.... The latest craze that Nathan has taken up is called KonMarie - a way of tidying up that involves joy being sparked. Turns out others are just as obsessed, Dave even calls his newly organised jocks drawer ‘revolutionary’! My Kitchen Rules is celebrating ten whole years of great home cooking - the French host with the most Manu Fieldel called through to reminisce about the early years and give the guys a taste of what’s to come this time round. And tennis legend Jim Courier is covering the Australian Open in Melbourne, he kept the guys in the loop with all the talent this year and what his life as a commentator is like compared to when he was playing tennis. The woman who tossed the bat before the BBL game on Tuesday actually tossed the bat into the cameras and caused chaos! We heard from some other unco people, like Jodie who threw a dart into another players leg, and Jason who broke his leg as soon as he started roller skating. Mitch Marsh called through to give us the lowdown on the Scorchers game tomorrow night, Nathan reckons Mitch needs to make him bleed again – because clearly Nathan’s blood is good luck! Greg Hire called in to preview the Wildcats game against Sydney tomorrow, and also to tell a decent joke for once. We actually laughed. In some bonkers sports-related news, Aussie cricket Usman Khawaja’s brother has been charged for allegedly faking up some terror threats to frame someone – in order to get a girl. The guys heard from other victims of jealousy, like Kim whose kids couldn’t handle being jealous, and Mel, who had a full on story about her Grandma. A man says he’s sick of hearing about his mates renovations, and Nat and Shaun reckon they’re sick of Nathan banging on about his favourite TV show. Nicole is over her friends constant talking about Doterra oils, and Ryan, well, Ryan reckons people get sick of him banging on about his hobby. And he’s right. They do. The wonderful Donna Hay called through for the last time this year to chat about the lead-up to Christmas, explain how to not cook a turkey, and also to burn Nathan. Classic Donna. And Nathan had a bit of an experience with the police at his apartment yesterday! He ended up being called to action - and apparently that’s happened to plenty of other people too. Sometimes in life you do something that people think is kind of sad, like Nathan using the Chicken Treat drive thru for a single meal on Christmas Day. We think that’s a little sad. Caitlin spent Christmas being lonely with a single bon-bon, and Kyle and his friends had nothing to eat but soggy bread for the Xmas lunch. All a bit sad, really. The Premier dropped by for his final visit for the year, and we gave a him a fracking and half! Though he handled himself pretty well. Plus we asked about the change to extended Xmas trading hours. Here’s hoping he comes back in 2019! And Naked & Afraid has teamed up with Shark Week to bring us Naked and Afraid of Sharks! Absolute madness this morning – a lady has come under fire from other parents in her class because she refused to take part in the ridiculously expensive shared gift for the teacher. Kelly called through, she didn’t eat for a week after she forked out for a shared wedding gift when she was at uni. And Shim is a teacher, she reckons the best gifts are from the heart…but she wouldn’t go past a fancy weekend away, kids. Maggie Dent came in for the last time this year, to a million questions from Shaun as usual. She also helped out Michelle who has a problem 17 year old son, and Danielle, whose son is a fan of biting. Vance Joy called in fresh from Nova’s Red Room last night to chat before his performance tonight at the ARIA’s! He compared himself to celebrities and picked one single cover he would perform over and over again. It wasn’t Taylor Swift! A guy tried hang-gliding for the first time and the instructor completely forgot to clip him on meaning he clung to dear life the entire time. James tried parasailing for the first time and lost a garment of clothing that he’ll never forget. And Nicole tried a reverse bungee jump and ended up with bruises that didn’t go away for months. Nat’s back! And her triumphant (sort of) return came with a title from her doctor. He said her ankle injury was the first he’d seen of the Christmas season! So we heard some other stories about being the first. Speaking of the Christmas season, we had the Nova Christmas party across the weekend (where Nat injured her foot) and all took part in a secret Santa. Nathan got deviled eggs, Nat got a rude cookbook and Shaun got a walking stick. We heard about some other weird secret Santa gifts, like dog food, and a very delicately wrapped piece of fruit. Anthony Mundine called in this morning, apart form his trash talking of our mate Danny Green he did make us laugh talking about his mums cooking and how he reckons Jeff Horn is boring. And the front page of today’s paper features ‘Knickers’ the giant cow. He’s as tall as a human! We asked for people to finish the sentence, ‘I have a really big....’ with hilarious results. Big ceramic fruits? Check. Big wooden animals? Check. Big foodstuffs with funny backstories? T

Boys club today thanks to Nat taking a tumble at the work Christmas Party...shenanigans all round! Shaun accidentally threw away a winning betting voucher on Saturday, and spent a great deal of time sorting through the bin. And no, he didn’t find it. Luckily others have done the same, like poor old James who lost a wedding ring in a giant bin...only a few months after he found it the marriage didn’t go so well... Ever heard of that massive drug lord in Colombia Pablo Escobar? Chances are you have, and if you haven’t, go watch Narcos on Netflix and be blown away. The guys had the opportunity to speak to DEA Agent Steve Murphy who was part of the team who took down Pablo Escobar, and he had some pretty eye opening stories to tell. And Greg Hire called through to join in on the boys club, and also to chat about the Wildcats amazing come from behind win yesterday, and how the NBL season is panning out pretty darn good for the boys. A flight over in Poland was stuck on the runway – and the airline asked the passengers to all chip in money for the missing part! Unbelievable. Stewart’s work asked for money for basic kitchen items, and Holly had to chip in a ridiculous amount of her own money for a compulsory Christmas party! Nathan explained the rundown of Lisa from The Veronica’s wedding – and it’s completely ridiculously hippie-ish. The guys got mouthy about hippie nonsense – and apparently others have experienced it too! Like Anya who thought a girls catch up wouldn’t involve chanting and colour chakras, or Laura who was forced to eat some pills that were made of something super gross. And awkward funnyman Luke McGregor is in town this weekend for some comedy shows, he called through to talk about his hit TV show Rosehaven which is coming into season 3, and how he’s actually had to walk off stage a couple of times at his own shows….  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Sooooo….this morning there was a little note left with the newspaper delivery – apparently Nova hasn’t paid the newspaper account! Oops. Turns out plenty of people have been caught out when they didn’t pay the bill – like poor old Larissa who had a break-in, only to discover her husband had forgotten to pay the insurance…. Greg Hire, Wildcats champion and terrible Dad-joke teller called in ahead of the games against New Zealand this weekend. There is one player on the side who he would leave his wife Ainsleigh for….and the guys kind of agree. We love you Ainsleigh! And Jason from Brigadoon was lucky enough to win a VIP day at the races this morning…he said he’d take his partner of 9 years but couldn’t tell the guys how old he was turning! A guy on a forklift nudged a pallet rack and every single rack in the warehouse then tumbled down. You can check out the crazy footage on the Nova 937 Instagram page. The guys heard some stories of big messes at work including starting fires in the microwave, diesel spills and splattering’s of toner ink. Brendon Julian joined the team to chat about the Australian T20 match today, and also remember that time his face was on a giant billboard for ages here in WA. And Nathan’s neighbour is a cycling triathlete and he’s super fit – which makes Nathan feel super bad about himself.
