Opponents of the LRT project have filed an official complaint against the mayor saying that his membership on the Alectra Utilities board of directors is a direct conflict of interest. Some councilors have decided to team up to pay for a city wide poll to gauge support for the LRT project. This comes a little over a week before a pivotal meeting on the project. Mohawk was the first College not only in Ontario but in Canada to offer co-op programs. The first program to "go" co-op at Mohawk was the 3-year Industrial Management Technology. It did so in 1970 (this was also the year the Department of Co-operative Education was established at Mohawk under Gord Partridge). A year later two more programs converted to co-op: Computer Systems Technology and Communication Arts.
