AS Roma named José Mourinho as the club's new manager ahead of the 2021/22 season - to mixed reviews. The Giallorossi have begun the season in excellent form, however, with six wins from their first six in all competitions, spearheaded by soon-to-be 24-year-old English striker Tammy Abraham. Nicolò Zaniolo was sent off in his first game under Mourinho, but is staging a comeback after two successive cruciate knee ligament injuries. Meanwhile, the highly controversial manager has already blooded a handful of young players from Roma's successful Primavera (U-19) side this year. Trophies are on the menu at the Olimpico, but it'll be box office, if nothing else.

The 2021/22 Austrian Bundesliga season is underway for another year with change afoot at the very top. Jesse Marsch has moved on from his post as FC Red Bull Salzburg manager, Matthias Jaissle replacing him. As well, Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu have completed separate transfers to the Premier League, in something of a Salzburg exodus. Not to fear though, Karim Adeyemi and co can pick up the slack. French giants Olympique de Marseille have added eight new faces to date during this transfer window. Permanent deals, near-record signings, loans-to-buy, contingency plans and straight loans among those deals. Young, courageous, impactful and diverse; this England team have broke new ground at EURO 2020. In reaching a major men's final for the first time in 55 years, they have inspired a generation off the pitch, with their stance against hate, discrimination and inequality, all while playing some of the most effective football on it. The nation has rallied around Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho - and rightly so. This is merely the beginning for this group, led, mentored and nurtured by Gareth Southgate.
