What We've Watched Podcast

Back in 2020, in episode 228, we watched Extraction and quite liked it - so we decided to watch Extraction 2. As it turns out we like it as well :) Tune in to this episode to see what we liked about it and what parts didn't quite hold up. We also spend some time talking about the SAG-AFTRA strike and the state of streaming as well.

It's the 8th birthday of the What We've Watched Podcast and so we watched When Eight Bells Toll, a very early Anthony Hopkins "James Bond" styled film adapted from the book by Alistair MacLean of Where Eagles Dare and other classics. Please pardon the background hum in a few places - some loud outside noise that got picked up by the mic.

This week we get to find out what it would be like if there was two #6's, but one of them is #12 pretending to be #6 and the other is #6 brainwashed into thinking he is #12. Yup, it's just like that some days in the village.

It's time for another decade look back as we go 30 years into the past and watch 1993's Heart & Souls. With a crazy cast of Robert Downey Jr, Charles Grodin, Kyra Sedgwick, Elisabeth Shue, Tom Sizemore, Alfre Woodard and David Paymer it's a film that maybe relies to much on heart and doesn't have enough soul.

This week Number 6 enters the wild world of politics in the village with the episode Free For All.

We continue with Romero's "Living Dead" series this week with the remake of Night of the Living Dead from 1990. What was the same, what got changed? For the better or worse? Listen in to see what we thing.

This week we take some time with Number 2 and Number 6 to learn our alphabet with the extra surreal dream like episode - "A.B. and C".

It's been a while (300 episodes in fact) since we talked about films that we think are underrated, so we decided to do another top five, picking from the films that have come out since then.

With the completion of the ST:TNG rewatch pod it's time for us to pick a new TV series and we've been excited to get to this one - so begins a watch through of Patrick McGoohan's 1967 surreal show - The Prisoner. In this first episode we chat about the pilot and stuff related to the production of the show.

This week's episode we do a double feature of two classic Mel Brooks films, Silent Movie (1976) and High Anxiety (1977).

Once more we journey into the dead filled films of Mr.Romero, this time with 1985's Day of the Dead.

For some time we have wanted to do a series about the actors we love but figuring out how to split them up was the hook - we decided the best way for us to do it by decade, so this week we are starting with the our favorite actors of the 1940's.

We convene on the deck of the Enterprise for one last episode with our thoughts on the series. We talk about how we rated the seasons and our best and worst episodes and characters. Discussions of things that could have been and how we feel about the series as a whole. Over the last 5+ years we recorded 176 episodes for a project we were not even sure was going to last a single season, yet here we are at the end of this long wonderful journey. Buckle up for this one folks - this week we watched the gore-comedy (and Ray Liotta's last film) film Cocaine Bear and wow is it a movie! We haven't seen anything quite like it in a while and it doesn't pull any punches.

This week we continue the Romero Journey with 1978's Dawn of the Dead, the original zombies in a mall film, famous beyond famous and really kicking off an entire genre of film.

As we continue to look at decades gone by we find ourselves watching a low key crime drama and hidden gem from 1973 staring Robert Mitchum and Peter Boyle.

Everyone likes Tetris and this film tells the crazy story of how we were all able to get a chance to play it.
