  • Holly Stephey talks to Shauna Burns New LP Violet!

    23/10/2013 Duration: 01h38min

Over the past few years, Burns has enchanted audiences across the U.S. and in the U.K. with songs from her four original albums and her 2011 holiday release A Winter Gathering, which is a collection of newfangled, holiday carols and original songs. “I view these performances as if I’m holding a conversation with the audience,” Burns says. “I’m communicating with whoever chooses to listen in that moment, and like to visualize my music embracing whoever wants to embrace it. Just as it’s a friend to them, music is my friend as well. There’s also a time travel element to the experience as well. A lot of people say my songs remind them of things they haven’t thought about in years. They help them recall the innocence of childhood that they had forgotten about. That’s what music does for me, too. I have a huge respect for the power of music and just how spiritual it can be. That’s why I take it so seriously.”   *Burns is proud to announce her brand new album entitled Violet. The direction taken for this project

  • Holly Stephey with Sheila Swift "The Shape of Things''

    16/08/2013 Duration: 01h08min

Rock-star-in-waiting Sheila Swift makes no bones about a few things: she’s from Houston, which she’ll proudly announce at the top of her live set even when playing at worlds-away venues like the cat club and the whiskey a go go on the Los Angeles strip.  She’s evolved into a full fledged rock singer, largely leaving behind the pop-rock leanings of her previous work in favor of a more pure rock sound, which shines through on the new material that she and her band debuted at a pair of shows in LA this March after a stop-off in Austin at SXSW And despite taking the serious-seeming move of turning up all the knobs on her music of late, she likes to laugh. Sheila Swift recently ventured on 5 week tour in Germany and the Netherlands. On her European tour, Swift gave audiences renditions of her new songs which manage to maintain the resonance of her earlier work while flexing a new found rock edge. Ecstatic European fans described Sheila as a mix of Gwen Stefani and Neil Young.  She’s got the kind of offstage affabi

  • John Holmstrom PUNK magazine & Monte A Melnick The Ramones!

    19/07/2013 Duration: 01h58min

In 1975 John Holmstrom co-founded PUNK magazine with Ged Dunn, JR. It spear-headed the punk movement and was instrumental in the success of Blondie, The Ramones, the Dead Boys and other New York City punk bands. Its hand-lettered graphics inspired many crudely-designed fanzines in its wake, and its feature-length photo comics predated the graphic novels of today. PUNK also created the punk art, a short-lived but long-forgotten movement that inspired the East Village art scene a few years later. John Holmstrom has also drawn posters, t-shirt designs, record, book and CD covers for The Ramones, Blondie, The Dandy Warhols, Murphy’s Law, MeatDepressed, The Kowalskis, The Cooties and Mykel Board. He also produced work for Scholastic, the Village Voice, High Times, Heavy Metal, Video Games and many other magazines. In 2000, 25 years after starting it, Holmstrom re-launched PUNK magazine, publishing several new issues, a comic book (Bosko), and in 2013 a book: The Best of PUNK Magazine. He’s currently licensing PUNK-

  • Holly Stephey & Betsy Otter Thompson " WHAT HAPPENS IF I"

    12/06/2013 Duration: 01h38min

Betsy Otter Thompson takes you on an inner journey toward growth and understanding. Ms. Thompson's theory of emotional action/reaction enables you to see yourself honestly. And with a little humor, she provides practical skills for achieving a richer, fuller, and more meaningful life.Based on the concept that "whatever the soul gives, the soul lives," "The WHAT HAPPENS IF I... Book" was written from a need to understand my life, as well as to change what I didn’t like and appreciate what I had. The idea for the book came to me as I was driving home from work one evening and trying to make sense out of my day. Things hadn’t gone well and I wanted to know why. I had faith in what I call the mirror theory and believed in emotional give/receive, i.e., whatever I gave to others—loving or unloving—returned to me. But I was struggling to be honest about what I must have given to explain what I had received.

In 1974 he relocated to Los Angeles for the express purpose of becoming a rock star. The Zippers (1976 to 1981). This was anti-disco/corporate hair band time in LA. The best description of The Zips is they were kinda the unholy offspring of The Kinks and Cheap Trick . The band released a single on Backdoor Man Records in '78, and a subsequent Ray Manzarek produced 6 song EP on Rhino in '81 just before they  imploded.Cammarata used the next 5 years  establishing a new career in production and musical prostitution. Rock and Vine reveals the lives and innovations of next generation changemakers in California’s wine country. In the 70s and 80s, winemaking started to become a legitimate profession in California. Winemakers, particularly in Northern California, showed the might of Napa and Sonoma wines, made from its rocky and diverse soils. In the 90s, American wine became more extravagant and winemakers became icons. Now, the children and grandchildren of those early winemakers have matured and are crafting their own convivial brands with less pomp and better circumstances. Through eleven unforgettable stories, author Chelsea Prince and photographer Mary Steinbacher introduce talented wine industry trailblazers who are primed to perpetuate and evolve the legacy of Napa and Sonoma.
