I was inspired today by an article in the Sunday Parade.  And just wanted to share what stirred this subject.  The article title - "You've Got Mail" about Zachary Gibson, who runs an animation team at digital media powerhouse BuzzFeed.   His mission is to place 100 miniature mailboxes in public places around LA. His goal - are you ready for this?  "Passing On A Smile" to strangers who may need one.  Want to know how this unfolds - you'll just have to listen.  I hope you'll share it, too.  We all need to have the mission of kindness and passing on a smile, my mission, for sure! Wow, August is just robust with changes and new beginnings!  But strangely, it's also a reminder of things past!  For example I received my daily announcement from FaceBook about today's birthdays! A few I had not followed actively, but decided to wish them an awesome day!  However, I noticed on one, "May You Rest In Peace". Yikes!  FaceBook is not obligated to remove these listings if they are not taken down when someone has passed!!! Big oops - thank goodness for the delete this post button! So word of caution on that, for sure :-)  And then major new stuff coming!  Kids off to college for the first time!  Stress for them, stress for the parents and as a grandmother, oh yeah stress is triple by the time it arrives at my feet!!!  This can be a traumatic and challenging week just getting settled in. Same goes if you have a new graduate starting a new job, or someone has to move and remain somewhere other than home! Up, up and away with life changes!  Not to mention Mother Nature winding down the summer - so m

It seems to be a chronic condition in our hurry up and wait world that we are always waiting on something.  The download, the table at a restaurant, check in at the airport.  How do you handle that? But more importantly how do you take care of someone you have to make wait?  I have to give a shout out to a local coffee shop Reverie Roasters that showed me the way to reward people for having to wait!  I was meeting a friend there and ordered a cup of java. However, the flavor I had chosen was quite popular and the pot was drained.  So the young man says I'll brew another pot and bring your cup to you. Well, that was great service right there and so I just continued having my conversation with my friend.  But I must confess I began having withdrawal symptoms as I watched my friend drink his brew.  And then my cup arrived as promised.  Not only did the coffee prove worth the wait, but I was also given a gift of a free cup, for having to wait!!!  Now, that my friends is true customer appreciation!!!  That is how

This is my tale of what I've been through when my momentum died! Have you ever been on a roll and things were happening according to all your plans and then it came to a screeching halt? Well after 7 years with Send Out Cards I felt like I was standing still. My momentum had definitely died.  Unfortunately, it's not all under our control.  So many factors play into what keeps us going and what comes along to stop us. I chose to detour because I was suffering from the loss of my team and so many other things.  I just did not feel I could start over and so I went in a different direction and received so many gifts. Sometimes, to get a better perspective of where we are, we have to go off our chosen path.  Not quit, but detour until we find our way back home. That's what happened to me.  I truly believe when you listen in if you've been on a career journey of your own you'll be able to relate.  I have received so many unexpected gifts on my jaunt.  I learned about podcasts :-)  I met Cynthia Bazin and Lisa Becht

On today's show I elaborate on what we need to be aware of when we enter into a collaboration.  It is really important to understand and define the roles of each party in order for it to be a successful collaboration. I have a few friends who hate their birthdays because they are only focused on the growing old aspect.  Me, I celebrate full tilt all year long because it validates another year of life! Life is short and we might want to grasp it with both hands, or not! This is just my perspective.  I believe that we are all unique and precious and bring something to this world.  And our birthdays are days to celebrate that.  Hopefully, with loved ones, family, friends, business associates.   Because if you don't care about your birthday you are denying your unique gift and purpose to this world.  I talk about birthdays today, because today just happens to be mine!  And I am celebrating!!! I want to say thank you to every single person that has sent me a card, a message, voice mail, Marco Polo or posted an emoji on FaceBook helping me celebrate.  I've received so many blessings and the words touch my heart.  This is what you deny yourself if you don't personally welcome your birthday. I gotta confess I did not pull this topic out of the air, it was actually inspired by an article I read! But I've been thinking of this article that refers to the 'Power of Points' ever since scanning it.  And it's true.  Our world literally revolves around points.  And for me, it has since 2005 when I first became an independent Marketing Representative with Send Out Cards .   I know you're scratching your head - what does that have to do with points. So I will tell you - EVERYTHING!  With our awesome greeting card system you purchase, wait for it, points!  And with these points you can create and send cards and gifts.  Eleven years ago it was hard for me to grasp this at first, but fast forward to today and points are attached to tons of companies! For example, I use one credit card for all my purchases. Why, because I get travel points!  And double the points if I eat out, rent a car, stay at a hotel, book a flight, etc.  Once I accumulate a certain amount I get to redeem them and use them for all the thin

I bet this is a loaded question for many of you?  You feel like you can't shut down, too much you have to get done, quotas to meet, events to attend.  So many demands on us, I know. But when I was selling time share one of the key points I would focus on with the couple or family I was touring, rest and relaxation is what rejuvenates us to do better than if we never let up.   Did you know that in Europe it is mandatory that people take 6 weeks vacation.  Why?  Because they KNOW the difference it makes in the productivity of their work force.  People in the US are afraid of negative actions if their boss sees them putting in for vacation.  Afraid it would look like they don't want to work. Statistics prove, however, that employers appreciate their employees that understand the importance of shutting down and relaxing.  Those employers 'get it'. Think about it.  How do you feel when you take a long deep breath or drink that fresh cup of coffee and shut down for just a few minutes.  Doesn't that give you an extr

Would you agree that sometimes it's difficult to be honest?  I know there have been times in my life that I hedged the truth to save face maybe, or to keep from hurting someone's feelings. However, as life experiences teach you wisdom you come to realize being honest, no matter how hard it might be sometimes, truly is the best policy. Such a situation just happened to me where someone had to make a painful admission on a phone call.  Our housekeeper had to call and tell me she had broken a little antique cream pitcher of mine. I know that had to be a hard phone call for her to make, but I thanked her for making it.  Had I come home to find it missing I would have thought I had done something to it.  And trust me, confusing someone is not a good thing. So I thought I would share how much I appreciated her honesty and to take the opportunity to remind you of how important it can be, from dealing with our family members, to our friends, and to the people we encounter every day.  Are you a sales rep, realtor, cus

This is a wild and crazy time of year for so many people. Graduating from high school or college.  Starting a new job, moving across the country.  Getting married, getting divorced...the list of transitions goes on and on. I only touch on a few today otherwise the show would be way too long :-)  So respecting your time I only talk about the first I listed. Getting married or divorced is a monumental subject all on it's own!  And I would prefer my friend Shan White who helps people with divorce, share that topic with you.  So many emotions emerge when we make transitions.  Especially if they are not of our choosing.  Those are often tougher to live through than those we make ourselves.  But no matter how or why the transition came about, how it affects us or how we deal with it all comes down to 'attitude'. Time and time again we reference back to that word, attitude.  But it is always so true.  If you get to choose something, it's your attitude.  What is going to help your next step vs what will hinder it?  I

Wow, we've been in a whirlwind of celebrations for this entire month! We've had 3 college graduations last weekend, a high school graduation party this weekend, an engagement announcement and our great grand baby's first birthday party!!!! YES, BIG WOW!!! I didn't immediately come up with this particular topic, but when you listen in you'll appreciate the importance of this quote: "You are a good and faithful servant! You've been faithful over a little.  I'll put you in charge of much.  Come, celebrate with me."-- Matthew 25:21  But in my perspective of what this quote is referring to, I find so many little 'wins' leading to the big events.  Yet, many of us put blinders on and so super focus on the big goal that we forget to celebrate all the special moments leading to the BIG celebration. Many steps along the way make the arrival so sweet, and if you cherish those along the way, the success is so much more. I talk about this subject because I have re-kindled a passion of mine that is consuming my brain with creating and wanting to sacrifice other things to do it! Has this ever happened to you?  You love something so much you start forsaking everything and everyone else for that activity? I think it happens to many of us and I talk today about finding a way to balance the passion so it does not become an obsession. Why do I feel the need to talk about this today?  Because I have a grand daughter who's husband has a passion for fixing up his car, after work.  It's lonely when someone chooses their obsession over being with you.  I understand what she's going through.  I've been there and it is crushing. My husband spent a short period of time obsessed over a new skill, but fortunately I was at a place in my life I understood, to a degree :-) and it all settled down when he got a job using that skill.  Sorta changed the dynamics on that bugger. I know a lot of you might be scratching your head and going, what? It was a phrase I heard often as a kid because the circus always came to town.  Or there was an awesome movie around the circus.  Kids always threatened to run away and join the circus! And some did! The memories of taking our kids to the circus are all we'll have now.  No taking the great grand baby to see the 'greatest show on earth!' I talk today about finding a way to preserve some of our traditions, some of our culture favorites.  Why?  Because of technology redirecting our connections.  Instead of hanging together, we text. Instead of talking on the phone we Face Book.  Instead of hugging we Skype. I know I'm showing my age with this one, but I am truly concerned about what's next.  If we don't attend live events, if we don't honor special things, they will go away. We're all very concerned about our world right now, so maybe this seems insignificant, but I truly believe it's vital to our society everywhere to just set technology aside o

This subject came to me...because I am always distracted!  And doing silly crazy things.  You'll have to listen in to hear what exactly. Of course, I could have filled the entire time with these, but I do have a message inside of that :-) I just thought I would share this topic with you outside the normal distractions we talk about dealing with business.  Yes, we have all the ongoing distractions of Social Media, but is your brain just totally not connected with your actions sometimes? I am still stuffed from Easter feast, but still I just had to embrace this subject!  It's all about an ABC news broadcast I watched a while back and was soooo impressed with this mission! It's really all connected to a group of high school seniors out of Boca Raton, FL that are truly making a difference! I'd love for you to listen to my show as I share this incredible story and then please share it!  I think we could spread the word and bring in tons of teenagers embracing this very mission! Just imagine helping kids everywhere understand the power of a simple gesture that includes everyone! I believe this is a powerful message that adults might want to take to heart as well.  How often do we just pass someone by that is sitting alone?  Yet we're surrounded by friends.  Maybe we could take a lesson from these kids and turn that behavior around. I know you're thinking I am going to share a ton of adventure stories, but there are no words that I can say that will do them justice. Italy was a surreal experience and I am going to just give you a little glimpse.  I'm sorry to say I forgot to mention our awesome tour guides, Barbara for the entire tour and Valle in Rome.   They quickly adapted to the political scene that changed our visit a bit. Do you often find yourself responding to that nudge or that gut feeling? I truly believe most women understand and can relate to this subject.   I attended an awesome seminar at a new local 'school' actually celebrating her 1st year, Finishing School For Modern Women. Now for those of you that immediately think like I do, yeah, we can get some manners going, etc.  Not so.  Nope this is not that at all. This is about women learning to claim their power in business, finance, communication and life.  All taught by experts in their field. I actually know the founder and Head Mistress Jill and decided to attend this seminar called, Everyday Intuition!  What an eye opening, fun, entertaining experience.  I met women of all ages, including 2 grandmothers who brought their high school age granddaughters. We meditated, we discussed and we learned how to tap into our intuitive style and to give a reading for someone else!!!  The Co Teacher for this event was Jennifer Jean Miller, a practicing physic from Florida.   You

I agree, losing isn't fun.  But how do you handle it?  Are you gracious, do you acknowledge the winner or no you slink off to pout? Even a year from now, people will be talking about the BIG oops on the Oscars last night.  First the Oscar is awarded to LaLa Land and then it's discovered that Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway of Bonnie and Clyde fame were handed the wrong envelope. It was quite a surprise for everyone concerned, but I was so impressed to see how graciously LaLa Land's crew handled the entire situation.  They honored the winning movie, Moonlight and welcomed them on stage to give them the Oscars they had just thanked everyone. That was a tough thing to do I am sure, but from my point of view, they deserved that Oscar, too.  So many people are miserable and show it immediately, actors or not.  So how do you handle losing?
