EP. 347: A Path Worth Traveling
02/08/2023 Duration: 01h36minToday I’m joined my buddy Tony Sangialosi of 33OH Archery. Tony and I were introduced by our mutual friends over at Exodus. They thought since we both are obsessed with bowhunting and jiu jitsu that we should meet! Tony’s introduction to the archery world is different from most that I’ve met. He also took it to the next level creating a business building custom bowstrings and arrows. Finding success is a habit, being open to possibilities, and taking risks….be it hunting, business, family, or jiu jitsu. We talk about all of that and more during today’s episode - thanks for listening! To listen to the podcast click the purple play button at the top of the page. EP. 346: Hunting The Shifting Phases Of Deer Season | Joe Rentmeester
26/07/2023 Duration: 02h06minToday I’m joined my buddy Joe Rentmeester. Joe is one of the most detailed hunters I’ve met and usually leads to the demise of a buck he has his sights set on. Today we did something a little different where we walked through each phase of the hunting season to see how Joe would tackle or has tackled hunts throughout the season. Success doesn’t come easy. It usually comes with adapting as the season changes…and that’s exactly what we discuss during todays episode. Hope you all dig the session as much as I did - thanks for listening! EP. 345: If I Can See Him, I Can Kill Him | 168 Inch Average Score | Drew Bounds
19/07/2023 Duration: 01h29minToday I’m joined my buddy Drew Bounds. Drew cut his teeth hunting in the Deep South along the Arkansas/Lousiana border, but his passion takes him across state lines seeking adventure and the mature bucks of the midwest. Drew is on an eight year heater…where he’s filled his out of state tag eight years running. The average score of those eight bucks…168 inches and some change. That’s like batting .400 in the big leagues. Oh…and if you want big elk…he does that too! His secret sauce to killing big deer “if I can see him, I can kill him.” Hope you all dig the conversation as much as I did! If you don’t already know Steve, he’s likely one of the most well versed mountain hunters you’ll find, he eats, lives and breathes mountain bucks. 21/06/2023 Duration: 01h34minToday I’m joined my buddy Joe Miles. Joe has been traveling and killing mature deer, among other species, for a long time. You’d be hard pressed to find a guy more dedicated to the hun and chess match than Joe. EP. 340: Why Drainages Can Equal Mountain Buck Success
14/06/2023 Duration: 01h45minToday I’m joined by my buddy Paul Putera. Paul is one of those public land guys that’s comfortable with the uncomfortable. Whether it’s talking the long way in to keep is access clean. Or just thinking outside the box, doing the opposite of what all other hunters are doing to find the overlooked hidden spots holding mature bucks. High pressure areas, Big woods, swamps, hill country…doesn’t matter. My money is on Paul to haul out a mature buck . Hope you all dig the conversation as much as I did - thanks for listening! 07/06/2023 Duration: 01h01minToday we're taking a stroll down memory lane with a look back episode. From time to time I like to go back through episodes to refresh my memory of things I should be thinking of as the season approaches. EP. 338: Walking With Shadows | Heath Cisco
31/05/2023 Duration: 01h27minToday I'm joined by my buddy Heath Cisco. Heath likely needs little introduction, he’s been killing mature bucks consistently for years. He’s the rare breed that can consistently target a specific mature buck and ultimately have that beast fall to his arrow. While he enjoys hunting all parts of the fall, he’s deadly with a front in October, and might be even better when the clock winds down and the brutal late season conditions roll in…he didn’t get the nickname “Iceman” for nothing! EP. 337: Making The Trad Bow Transition | The Push Archery
24/05/2023 Duration: 01h34minToday I'm joined by my buddy Matt Zirnsak from The Push Archery. Matt and The Push Archery are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to everything traditional archery. As many of you know, I’ve been considering hunting with traditional equipment this year, and of course have a lot of questions. Matt was kind enough to join me to talk a newbie through a lot of the things I’ll need consider as I think of transition from a compound to trad bow. We of course talk some deer hunting too. EP. 336 Wind Speed & Mature Bucks | Bow Hunter Of Averages | Jason Michael
17/05/2023 Duration: 01h49minToday I'm joined by my buddy Jason Michael. I like to refer to Jason as the original DIY Traveling Whitetail Gypsy. He’s like a walking welcome center for any state, and any public ground. I’ve rarely mentioned a piece of ground in any state that he wasn’t familiar with. He’s as sharp a woodsman as they come, deadly with a stick and string in his hand…but beyond that…he might be one of the nicest humans you’ll ever meet. You won’t find a bigger cheering section for someone else success than him. One of my favorite conversations in recent memory…and hope you all dig it as much as I did - thanks for listening! EP. 335: Quality vs. Quantity
10/05/2023 Duration: 01h45minToday I'm joined by my buddy Kevin Vistisen. Quality of life has probably been on most peoples minds the past few years. I know it has been something I’ve given a fair amount of thought. Whether it’s to hunt more, be in better physical shape, or provide your family with the type of lifestyle you desire…these things usually come with sacrifice in the short-term for longer-term rewards. You’ll hear a lot of people talk about such things…but few act. Kevin is acting, and today we talk about evolving your life and your families life to focus on quality vs quantity…and better deer hunting…of course - thanks for listening! EP. 334: Do We Rely On Post Season Scouting Too Much | Mike Perry
03/05/2023 Duration: 01h44minToday I'm joined by my buddy Mike Perry from Pennsylvania. I haven’t had Mike on in a while and it’s always good to catch up with a fellow PA hunter. For those of you who don’t know Mike, he’s a killer. Whether it’s public or private Mike consistently finds and kills mature deer. One of my favorite things about Mike is his curiosity, and how his expectations are rooted in reality. Mike’s been killing deer since the 90’s. We talk about his style has evolved over the years from a rut hunter to now an approach this is more focused on following the changing components of the deer’s world in the fall to stay in the game vs. sitting a funnel. One thing that hasn’t changed is the notion that the only way to get good at killing mature bucks…is to kill deer in general. It takes reps and experience, and letting the arrow go is just the beginning. Hope you all dig the conversation - thanks for listening! EP. 333: Finding The Silver Lining | Zach Ferenbaugh
26/04/2023 Duration: 01h27minToday I'm joined by my buddy Zach Ferenbaugh. We all know Zach as the passionate outdoorsman/whitetail hunter and ground tactician that has helped define The Hunting Public. I’ve learned a lot from watching and talking to Zach, the hunter. But his most important lesson he might share is how he’s managing being on the sidelines rehabbing a serious injury. Forced presence can provide fresh perspective. Zach (and The Hunting Public) are about the community, friends, and family. I think Zach said it best when he shared how this injury has help shape his perspective about hunting. He said “ I just miss being with my friends.” We sometimes forget what the important stuff is in the midst of the chase. Hope you all dig the conversation as much as I did - thanks for listening! EP. 332: Appalachia Mountain Bucks | The Stick Boys
19/04/2023 Duration: 01h28minToday I'm joined by my buddy Dalton Lewis from The Stick Boys. Dalton hunts the Appalachia Mountains of North Carolina where he spends his time chasing gnarly old mountain warriors with a trad bow. Dalton is an old soul, and approaches hunting through the “old school” lens of woodsman-ship and is focused on the experience…not the inches. Forever the optimist, I don’t think you could ever have a conversation with Dalton and not feel energized about the opportunities in front of you. The world could use more Daltons - thanks for listening! To listen to the podcast click the purple play button at the top of the page. EP. 331: A Safe Place To Become Dangerous | Tim Carpenter
12/04/2023 Duration: 01h38minToday I'm joined by my buddy Tim Carpenter. Tim is the owner and coach at Hellfisfish MMA. He’s been immersed in martial arts for nearly all of his life and is incredibly accomplished in every thing from Judo to BJJ and as a professional MMA fighter. If you’ve listened to this podcast for any length of time you likely know two things about me. My rekindled love of grappling/Jiu jitsu. And finding connection points among things that on the surface seem to not have much in common but share fundamental principals. I was surprised by how many folks who listen to the podcast are jiu jitsu practitioners. And BJJ and bow hunting whitetails is…well…not as different as some might think. There’s a lot of similarity between a killer in the whitetail woods and a killer on the jiu jitsu mats. The obvious is the dedication and passion to the craft. What is often overlooked is the elite performers in both are….experts in the fundamentals preferring substance over style. I hope you all dig this episode as much as I enjoyed t

EP. 330: Be A Better Human To Be A Better Hunter
05/04/2023 Duration: 01h57minToday I'm joined by my buddy Tony Peterson. It’s been a while since we had a chance to catch up. Tony always has an honest view of hunting, what it’s comprised of, how to get better, and it’s relationship to how our everyday life impacts hunting…or is impacted by hunting. It’s one of the many reasons I’m glad to be able to call him a friend. And why I’m glad he’s a voice of reason for the hunting space. Like always…we cover a lot of ground in today’s episode. Hope you all dig the conversations as much as I did - thanks for listening! To listen to the podcast click the purple play button at the top of the page. EP. 329: Delayed Is Not Denied | Travis Keith
29/03/2023 Duration: 01h32minToday I'm joined by my buddy…the man with two first names, Travis Keith. It’s been two seasons since Travis has been on the show. His 2021 season had some unexpected twists and turns while 2022 tested his resolve. What I most appreciate about Travis (beyond the fact that he is a killer in the whitetail woods) is he leads with his faith, always. Does the right thing which ins’t always the easy thing. And at the end of the day, he still usually ends up with a filled tag or two. But most importantly he leaves each hunting season with a story, a lesson learned, and even with adversity…even deeper in his faith. Always and excellent and soul enriching conversation with Travis. Hope you all dig the conversation as much as I did - thanks for listening! To listen to the podcast click the purple play button at the top of the page. EP. 328: Wind Bump Bucks | 4 Public Land Bucks In 4 Seasons
22/03/2023 Duration: 01h25minToday I'm joined by Brent Hits. Brent is a die-hard public land whitetail hunter from the state of Virginia. Finding success on mature deer is hard. Finding that success on public land, even harder. To find that success four consecutive years…well…that’s quite an achievement and exactly what Brent did from 2018-2021. Today we talk about his approach, how each hunt played out, and hunting Virginia public land in high pressured areas of the state. Hope you dig it - thanks for listening!
