    17/08/2017 Duration: 01h15min

Here on the Educated Guess Podcast, we do ur best to interview educators far and near that refuse to accept the status quo of our craft.  We present to you, Carlos Gonzalez of Los Angeles. Teacher, Assistant Principal, and now principal in South Los Angeles.  His dedication to high expectations for students and staff has, no doubt, lead to his rise as an instructional leader in his district. I first met Carlos at the BOOST conference, where his strong, unapologetic stance on a quality education made an immediate impression on me. Also joining the podcast, is Diego Arancibia.  Brother to Rodrigo, and the first of us to meet and work with Carlos.  Diego would be the director of the Afterschool All Stars, an after school program, at a school where Carlos was the assistant principal.    Both men are game changers in the realm of education, and I want you to hear their stories and perspectives for yourselves.Get at us on them twitters: @czareff @mr_ayyy @d_suli

  • EP021:GerardoHUIDOR/reigningAPWORLDking/DEYaintSHT/ROMANSEH/akaPUPPYTEARS

    24/07/2017 Duration: 01h06min

Introduction by Adrian Arancibia.  Shout out to Diego for the backround information that made this podcast POP! Mr. Gerardo Huidor discusses his struggles with school as a youth in the South Bay.  He would go on to SDSU and nearly drop out, if not for a turning point.  He would go onto get his Masters in Social Work at UCLA and work in that field for a couple of years. But education was his calling.  He went from a middle school to teaching AP World History at a brand new high school in our district, which he has been doing now for almost 15 years.  He is a master.  And his pass rates prove it.  You'd have to hear the story to believe it, and it is our honor to present it to you.https://www.facebook.com/educatedguesspodcast/?ref=bookmarks@czareff @mr_ayyy on them twitters

  • EP019:NIkkiEddy/educatoractivist/IBAPEnglish/TOK/SocialJustice/ARE/

    21/05/2017 Duration: 48min

Homage to the tour guide of Midnight Marauders.Nikki Eddy is and AP/IB teacher at Castle Park High School, in Chula VIsta, CA. In my humble opinion, her biggest contribution to youth is providing the atmoshpere so students can organize around the issues that are important to them.  So transformative is her approach, that students have taken the lead on some professional development for school staff on issues of social justice.Ms. Eddy also happens to teach one of my favorite classes in high school, Theory of Knowledge, part of the International Baccalaureate program. A course on epistomology, students study how we have formed systems of knowledge since the early inception of rationalized thought. Shout out to Landlord Jim's and ARE (Association of Raza Educators) by Ms. Eddy.  Hope you enjoy the episode.@czareff on the TwittersApple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher, Tunein, wherever A1 podcasts can be found.Public Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/educatedguesspodcast/?ref=bookmarks

SHe is also a local product of San Diego, graduating from Sweetwater High School and San Diego State.  She pays homage to those who helped her apply to college, which, in her time, was not a common path for people in her community.Powerful words speaking truth.  I hope you like it.Educated Guess Podcast on Facebook@czareff on Twitter and I

  • EP008Where are the Bernie Sanders supporters?

    03/11/2016 Duration: 01h02min

In this order Justino (Trump), Filiberto (HRC) and Jason (Stein). We talk about what it was that drew them to Bernie and how the rationalize the switch to someone who clearly does not hold those same values. We talk about the flaws in each candidate, and I even play a little "Political Love Match" game with one of the guests. There is some cursing in the beginning of the second interview, so a little fast forward will get you beyond that. No biggie.Enjoy episode eight.
