The President of the United States, of course, was listening to elementary school students about an hour south of me read a book about a goat, in Sarasota, Florida. An aide whispered the news in his ear, a quizzical expression came over his face, and he returned to finish learning about the goat. It seemed like we would never laugh again. Except about that goat story. WTF? JEFF KEANE audio excerpt: "I didn't want Family Circus to be heavy-handed. I wanted to be appropriate for the characters

It’s about a little girl named Danielle, “The Girl in the Window” described in Lane DeGregory’s story in the St. Petersburg Times that won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing. I remember the day that Lane’s story first appeared in the paper. Within days, there were 1,284 comments posted to the paper’s website about just this story. I've been intent on publishing my January 19, 1984, phone interview with him for a long, long time, but I just cannot locate the original print version of the story to accompany it, so today I am throwing up my hands and we'll just go with the audio. At the time of this interview, Bon Jovi was a hard-working, fast-rising Jersey Shore band that made itself media accessible and media friendly. The guys frequently played baseball against local radio station DJs as they toured the country, generating good feelings and lots of extra spins of their debut record. Now ABC has once more brought back that old chestnut in a new primetime seasons of “The Superstars,” airs on Tuesday through July at 8 p.m. on ABC. This time around, we get male/female, celebrity/athlete teams including Terrell Owens and Joanna Krupa, Robert Horry and Estella Warren, Lisa Leslie and Dan Cortese, Brandi Chastain and Julio Iglesias Jr. and others. The 83rd Annual Academy Awards may have been a bit of a snore, but there is nothing dull or flat about the 12th Annual Mr. Skin Anatomy Awards! Usually, we can count on Mr. Skin to fast-forward to the best parts in TV and film. But at this time of year – not at all coincidental to the Oscars, Skin and his staff of skinvestigators single out the year’s greatest flashes of female skin. There are our usual favorite categories, of course – best breast, best butt, best full frontal, best Wet T-Shirt and of course, Breast Picture. But this wouldn’t be the Anatomy Awards if Mr. Skin didn’t add new, one-of-a-kind categories to recognize each year: • Best Nude Parasailing: Piranha 3-D • Best Nude in an Apron Scene Leonor Watli

Here’s a statement of fact I think we can all agree upon: Heterosexual men like to look at naked women. We also like to see fully and partially clothed women and imagine them naked. That, in truth, is often more satisfying, in a strange but true fashion. MR. SKIN podcast excerpt: "Over 2,000 new nude scenes have happened since January 2005. So I said, 'It's time for a second edition.' That's kind of the reason this book is 688 pages. It's like half the size of the health care bill." And let’s not forget that we also enjoy doodling pictures of naked women and sharing these doodles wih our equally compelled brethren. Hugh Hefner and Bob Guccione figured this out. Howard Stern did, too. And then there was Jim McBride, the cheerful young dude who makes a living cataloging and capturing the moments when our favorite film

Today's Guest: Lisa McMann, YA novelist, Wake, Fade, Gone, The Unwanteds Order 'The Wake Trilogy: Wake; Fade; Gone' by Lisa McMann from Amazon.com by clicking the books above! This is gonna take a minute. It was the last day of our first family vacation in two years and the three of us were unwinding in the enormous Barnes & Noble bookstore in Burlington, Vermont. My 13-year-old son Charlie found two young adult novels she wanted to buy, both of which his friends had already read and enjoyed. The first was The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, which looked like it was cast in the mode of the Harry Potter books, a series that Charlie has read over and over and over. The second was a dark and somewhat frightening looking book titled Wake by Lisa McMann. It’s subtitle: “Your dreams are not your own.” I was dubious; my kid finds the sight of blood unsettling and isn’t a fan of violence or gore. But it was technically age-appropriate and it meant reading something other than texts on his phone, so okay. LISA M

Pritchard told the Jordanian writer and director to make it a comedy, something in which Charlie Chaplin would have wanted to star. And you know what?
