Big Gross Movies

This week we fire up the time machine for our last trip to the seventies to look around at 1972 and watch it's highest-grossing movie: The Godfather with guest comedian Marito Lopez.

This week, we crank the time machine back up and take a flight back to 1965 to have a look around and watch it's highest grossing movie: The Sound of Music with special guest, Comedian Cathryn Naiker.

This week Canadian Thanksgiving done busted the time machine so bad we couldn't even record an episode, but worry not listeners, Dave is nothing if not totally willing to sit in his room alone and make really silly things.  Enjoy the sketches: The Adventures of Phineas Blackwood: Gentleman Time Traveler, Artisan's Corner and Shitfaced Steve Sings the Hits.  

This week, we invite our original Paul Newman guest Fraser Young to go over what Dave was sure was cool movie where cool Paul Newman plays cool pool and is cool.  We talk about that, which makes up about a quarter of the movie, and then go over the dark tale of Bus Station drunks hidden inside the cool pool movie.

This week, Meg Mackay returns and we hop back to 2004 to look around/wallow in its sadness then watch its highest-grossing movie: Shrek 2 with special guest Michael Kolberg.

This week to honour the 50th anniversary of Star Trek Dave invites resident Trekspert Will Noye to continue our series of odd-numbered Star Trek reviews with Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Shakespeare quoting Klingons, Sex in the City Vulcans and President of the Federation Pai Mei Red Foreman.  It's all here!

This week we let the time machine's hair grow out and zipped back to 1949 to have a look around and watch its highest-grossing movie: Samson and Delilah with Guest Meg Ryan Horwood and special guest Lucy Gervais.  We go over a soviet bomb, Mao Zedong, a hero cat and a stuck cow before going over the biblical epic about a longhair superman and his original bride's... sister? This week we rerouted the Time Machine to 1967 to catch the late Gene Wilder's big break into the movies: The Producers with guest comedians Alex Wood and Nigel Grinstead.

This week, Meg Mackay is still on assignment in the middle east, so we rappelled down the time vortex to 2014 with returning guests Alison Dore and Shawn Hogan to catch one of Meg's Favorites: The Expendables 3.  We have a ball going over a movie that has all the things, and then more things.

This week we throw on some time skates and hop back to 2012 to have a look around and watch its highest grossing movie: The Avengers with special guests Andrew Ivimey and Diana McCallum of the From Superheroes Podcast!  We go over elections, a bunch of sci-fi and then recap a superhero classic: The Avengers.

This week, after having a good time in 1989 watching Tango & Cash, we decided to stop by 1991 on the way back to see another insane product of hubris: Bruce Willis' Hudson Hawk.  Oh and Meg is moving to the Middle East for six weeks. Enjoy!

This week we Grab a few ounces of Gillyweed and flip our time-turners several thousand times to swing back to 2005 to have a look around and watch its highest grossing movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with comedian Nile Seguin

This week we Polish the time prism and set back to 1948 to have a look around and watch its highest-grossing movie with Comedian K. Trevor Wilson! The Letterkenny fella! We go over all the depressing things everyone did after finishing a war that should have taught us something, then go over the thoroughly good song and dance movie Easter Parade.

This week Meg is away, so guest Meg Amanda Day is here to polish the time crystals and get us back to 1938 to have a look aroound and watch it's highest grossing movie: You Can't Take it With You with guest comedian Craig Fay.

This week Meg and Dave take the time machine on a pleasure cruise to Christmas 1989 to watch it's hilarious flop and study in megalomaniacal macho Tango and Cash; wherein Kurt Russel and Sylvester Stallone play out a fever dream dad fantasy.

This week we funneled seventeen tons of Kerosene per second into the time engines and checked out 1967 and its highest-grossing movie The Jungle Book with Special Guest Alison Dore!   Check out our tumblr for historical photos and whatnots.

This week, after still having no idea what the hell was up with 1987 after our last episode, Dave and Meg flew back this week to give the year another shot by watching the movie we assume would make all the money today: The Superhero one.  So we watched Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.  We go over Lex Luthor's useless nephew, A Love square that winds up in a sitcom, and the mechanics of hucking things into the sun.

This week with special guest John Mostyn Dave lights the pilot and cranks the gauges on the time machine to pick up Meg in the Mesozoic era before stopping in 1987 on the way back to stop time assassins from killing us as babies and to look around and watch its highest-grossing movie: Three Men and a Baby.
