The fear of missing out sucks. We all have those moments we wish we could be here, we wish we could be there but it’s usually impossible. Unless you have a Black American Express credit card with unlimited credit, you probably have to pick and choose between what you say yes to and what you say no to. The no’s have to come more than the yeses and if we’re being completely honest, it’s a bummer. We see everyone “living it up” at that birthday party, that networking event or in this case at Coachella but sometimes we just need to ignore it. Today I'm sharing out a conversation I had on The Healthy Hustle Podcast presented by MATI Energy back in February with Jacob Burt. Georges Niang is a 6’8", 230lb power forward for the Utah Jazz. If there is one thing that has changed the most about him since entering the NBA in 2016, it’s realizing what truly matters to him is living and experiencing life with the people that mean the most to him. Mike Squires is a director, filmmaker, photographer & music producer. While in NYC recently, he saw a photo he had taken and a logo that he had designed on a billboard in Times Square. For him it was a reminder that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Born & raised in Stamford, CT, his parents supported his creative endeavors from day 1. Working a landscaping job all summer while he was 16, he saved up enough money to buy used camera equipment. Just two months later, he was on stage shooting Big Sean. One of the hardest moments he faced in his childhood was having his house burn down and losing everything. Instead of letting this experience hold him back it taught him a valuable lesson, that everything is replaceable. Although he knew he wanted to follow a creative career, he attended Norwalk Community College to appease other family members. Ben Hagarty aka BenRealVsWorld is a creative director, photographer, videographer, editor, musician, podcaster and founder of Black With No Cream. Jordan Tarver is a writer, photographer, storyteller and van lifer. A 5 week trip to Europe turned into 3 months pushed him outside of his comfort zone and made him realize who he was always meant to be. He talks about the lessons he learned from the trip in his book, Moment: Vol.1 : To Whom It May Concern. Born & raised in Rohnert Park, CA, he found his passion for the outdoors from camping trips with his family. Always wanting to live in Southern California, he attended Cal State Fullerton where he majored in finance. It was through greek life that he found his passion for photography. Futuristic is more than just a recording artist, he’s also an entrepreneur. From touring around the world, having his own clothing line Sheeesh World, writing his first book The Declaration Of Independents, owning his own retail store Guest List and running a creative studio out of his second home, he enjoys bringing his ideas to life. Bringing the superfoods from the hive to consumers through their products such as propolis spray, honey, B.XLR Brain Fuel, and honey sticks, they’re helping people live healthier than ever. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, at around the age of 11 Carly found out she had an autoimmune disease that rejected any & all antibiotics. Nicholas Jandora is a music video director also known as Jandora Media. In the past he has worked with recording artists Lil Skies, Landon Cube, Yung Pinch, Lil Gnar and more. Being genuine, humble and selective with who he works with has helped him get to where he is today. Born and raised in Martinsburg, West Virginia, he started making YouTube sketch comedy videos with his friends in high school. He attended Shepherd University for 1.5 years and then transferred to West Virginia University where he majored in Visual Journalism. Even with professors, friends and family suggesting he get a job after graduating, he saw the success other music video directors were having which gave him the confidence to go for it.
