Entertainment Television, and served as its president and CEO for almost a decade.

    PrideFest turns 28 this June for Hampton Roads Pride, the local non-profit, LGBT organization whose mission is to unite the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and allied communities in support of inclusion, dignity and equality of all people. Hampton Roads Pride's annual celebration held at Town Point Park is the city's largest one-day celebration and this year's theme is Love Unites. How did organizers select that theme? Today we will talk with the film makers behind "What We Carry," an effort to interview and document the experiences of the Holocaust. Three new films in their series will premiere this Sunday, May 22 at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts at 2:00 PM. Segment B: A new interactive art installation in Norfolk's NEON Arts District is garnering international attention. The high-tech mural, titled "Transparent Seas," responds to the viewer's proximity to the work -- revealing new layers of illustration with every step. A effort is a collaboration between renowned illustrator Jason Levesque and Norfolk digital creative agency, Grow. We'll talk with the artist and Grow founder, Drew Ungvarsky, about the collaboration and the role local businesses can play in "activating" a community through art.

This policy adjustment was pushed for and designed primarily by students.   • The Murder of Xulhaz Mannan

    02/05/2016

    A week ago a gay rights activist, Xulhaz Mannan, and his friend were killed in Bangladesh's capital city, Dhaka. Mannan served as the editor of Roopbaan, the country's only LGBT magazine, and had familial ties to Hampton Roads. We'll talk today with Mannan's nephew, Raj Islam, and other members of Virginia Beach's Human Rights Council and Hampton Roads Pride about the global impact of Xulhaz Mannan's death.
