We're back after a week off to celebrate the holidays, and it's time to announce the winners of The Gaming Hub's 2018 awards! All nominees, and ultimately the winners, were chosen exclusively by our community! Which game will win game of the year? Which game was the best console exclusive of 2018? We also announce winners in the best shooter, best sports/racing game, best independent game, and best action/adventure game categories. This week, we discuss the code names for the rumored next-gen Xbox consoles that were leaked this week. With two different versions of the console supposedly coming, we talk about whether that could help Xbox avoid the pricing issues they experienced in 2013. Also, which one of the two are we most likely to get? Also, the first Razer keyboard and mouse combination for the Xbox One was detailed this week - how much does it cost and are we excited to get one? With the holidays now here, we take some time to discuss our favorite holiday movies, TV shows, and traditions. With there being very little gaming news this week, we turn our attention to the past and revisit the biggest video game stories of 2018. It comes as no surprise that this week's news was dominated by the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2. Most of the news was great for the game and for its developer Rockstar, but some wasn't. We talk about it all here, starting with breaking down the fantastic Vulture article from earlier in the week detailing the development of the game and some of the features it will have. Next, reports surfaced this week about physical copies of the game not being available for small, independently run retailers until November. We talk about whether this is fair, and what kind of impact losing a major release like this can have on family owned game stores. Conversation this week also turned to working conditions at Rockstar, specifically around the amount of hours employees at the developer put in there.
