 Living an abundant life isn’t just for someone else. Jesus offers abundant life to ALL who believe in Him! What kind of life are you living? When you face trials, do you let God in to do what only He can do? In John 2, the family hosting the wedding in Cana faced a problem that would be detrimental to the family’s reputation. But it was Mary who knew exactly who to seek and lay before Him without getting in the way of how He would solve the problem. Her utilization of seeking the source of ALL THINGS led directly to a highly renowned rabbi to hear the gospel straight from Jesus’s mouth. When the kings of Israel and Judah realized their mistake, they sought the prophet of God Elisha. Even though they did not consult the Lord first, God still delivered them from their problem through Elisha. If you are facing a panicky situation today, and maybe you knew it was a bad idea from the start, or you consulted other things instead of God, God's hand is not too short to deliver you. The kings were required to perform an act of manual labor as a sign of trust and faith in the Lord. Almost every person involved in the Christmas story had been in some point of pressure. For Zachariah, it was his job as a priest. For Mary, it was her betrothal. For Joseph, it was cultural expectations. For the wisemen, it was obedience to a king. But we need to look at what they each decided to do when the Lord gave them a word to guide them and give them direction. Was it to continue in confusion? Was it to let their feelings dictate their actions? Or was it to lay those feelings aside and trust and love God enough to take Him at His word? This Christmas season, don’t glaze over the nativity story. When the angel visited the shepherds to tell them of the coming of the Savior, it was a sure-fire word that they could act upon immediately. They lived a mundane, day-to-day cycle of faithfully tending to their sheep, when God’s meticulously planned moment intended for them to experience was sprung upon them all of a sudden. Like a light switch, everything for them changed. Believer, God still speaks. He has a word for you, and it WILL come to pass. In a health crisis, God has an ally fighting for your healing. In financial ruin, God has a friend rallying for your relief. Description: Intimidation is the enemy’s most effective tool.  He knows he doesn't have authority over you, so he tries to manipulate you with fear and intimidation. Oftentimes, it works. Finances are not something almost anyone wants to talk about, but this is a NEEDED conversation for believers. God invites you to TEST HIM with your finances. He wants to bless you, He wants to bless His people! But He cannot blow your mind with His “God-math” if you do not test Him. It is not supposed to make sense how He does it. Spiraling, negative thoughts take up residence in our minds more than they should. King David himself struggled with anxiety and depression, as evident in the Psalms. However, in the Psalms, David does something that we should also be doing: he puts his thoughts against the character and Word of God. What would happen if WE did that? Has God ever told you something that you thought, “Maybe I need to seek someone else’s opinion about this?” Maybe he’s told you to get up and move next week, or to give your car away, or don’t take that job promotion, or something else that just sounds crazy to human ears. When you KNOW that God has told you something, DON’T seek another’s opinion! Godly counsel is a good thing, but we cannot put it ABOVE God’s opinion, God’s word to us. Imagine what might have happened if Abraham had asked Sarah’s opinion of taking Isaac to sacrifice him on an altar, because God told him to. Or any of the servants he brought with them. Abraham held to God’s character even when what God told him sounded crazy.
