  • Slamdance 2021 - Bleeding Audio Director Chelsea Christer and The Matches Justin San Souci

    18/02/2021 Duration: 20min

Send us a textNext stop, Slamdance y'all!  Our first interview during the film festival for filmmakers by filmmakers is with director Chelsea Christer and band member of The Matches,  Justin  San Souci. In this interview, they talk about their documentary Bleeding Audio, which follows the journey of a band out of Oakland, Ca. called  The Matches.  The  incredible footage they have of the band as they grow up in the music industry sets the stage for the journey they take as the industry turns to digital platforms almost overnight. The toll the digital age takes on a band coupled by having bad management is an interesting true story that Chelsea captures and tells so well through the lens of the band members, their parents, and their community. This was a fun interview and this doc. makes us yearn for live music shows - which can't come fast enough - after everyone gets the vaccine of course.  Thanks for listening!Bleeding Audio is currently playing at the Slamdance Film Festival, and will be making it

  • Basic Bitching (Virtually) From Sundance 2021

    03/02/2021 Duration: 36min

Send us a textWe've been virtually covering the Sundance Film Fest for the last week or so and wanted to check-in with our friend, John Wildman of Films Gone Wild . Normally we'd be in a room with John co-hosting a show called The Festival Daily Buzz for a local Park City, Utah radio station, but this year, since we're sheltering in place, we're Sundanc-ing as our respective outlets. Sit back and enjoy our thoughts on the realities of watching a film festival movie at home when you're  sharing space with others (clearing through - family),  juggling interviewing multiple guests on one screen via Zoom, and missing the things that Sundanc-ing in place just can't replace when you're in Park City. We'll be all Sundance during the next week or two, so get ready for some fun and insightful interviews with filmmakers, actors, and producers from all around the world.   Thanks for listening! Follow Films Gone Wild on Facebook --Be well, stay safe, Black Lives Matter, and thank y

  • Sundance 2021 - Director Debbie Lum from TRY HARDER!

    29/01/2021 Duration: 25min

Send us a textThird times a charm, y'all. We're back at the Sundance Film Festival, virtually of course, and we're starting it off with a local story directed by San Franciscan Debbie Lum.  Her film, Try Harder!  focus's on a handful of Lowell High School - a public school that kids have to test into - and their (and sometimes parents) obsession with getting into Ivy League colleges.  The film made us think about our high school experiences and appreciate that our parents didn't pressure us about getting into college. Like, not at all. So let's get into our first of many Sundance 2021 interviews and find Try Harder! once it gets its official release date. --Follow Try Harder! on IG,FB, and Twitter.--Be well, stay safe, Black Lives Matter, and thank you for wearing a mask. --Buy us a cup of coffee!Subscribe to our channel on YouTube for behind the scenes footage!Rate and review us wherever you listen to podcasts!Visit our website! www.bitchtalkpodcast.comFollow us on Instagram, Fa

  • Erika Cohn - Belly of the Beast

    27/01/2021 Duration: 21min

Send us a textErin and Ange sit down with Erika Cohn, director of the documentary Belly of the Beast, a film that follows the fight against the illegal sterilization of women in prison. While this documentary has been 10 years in the making, it all started when she became a volunteer at the Oakland based organization Justice Now, which fights to provide social justice for women in prison. We get into the back stories of film's main subjects, Kelli Dillon, and Cynthia Chandler, and the dark history of eugenics in California. This is a powerful documentary that further proves our need for MAJOR transparency in our prisons, and to rethink the money spent on a system that is completely inept. And while we're at it, when the hell will the decisions made about a woman's body be her own? The fight is not over, reparations have not been made, and the people at the helm of these atrocities (that are still happening to this day) have not yet been held accountable. Support this film, get fired up, and go
