Video management and Video Surveillance systems are complex by nature, and that complexity can be overwhelming.  The Dell EMC extensive partner community allows for simple and efficient Plug and Play Solutions.  One of those solutions was recently showcased by Pelco, a global leader in surveillance and security products and technologies. Media impacts everything, from end user devices to enterprise storage platforms and everything in-between.  Moore’s Law continues to drive the media evolution along with von Neumann’s Law or Memory Design, basically stating that the fastest memory will always be as close to the CPU as possible while memory size will increase, along with latency, but cost will be reduced.  That theory is as true today as it was in the 1940s. At Dell EMC World, I sat down with Danny Cobb (@Dcobbweb), Dell EMC Fellow and VP of Emerging Media, and we talked NVHMCI, NVMe, M.2, 14G, new form factors and the ultimate question, what’s next?   But I feel like every time I talk to Danny, it’s the same conclusion.  From the original NVMHCI (Non-Volatile Memory Host Controller Interface Specification) created by Dell, Microsoft and Intel in 2008, NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Extension), NVMe represents the next step in that evolution.  But like traditional Flash, it’s not NVMe that unlocks customer value, it’s the software and architectur

The Dell EMC Hockey Tour recently concluded its regular season in home of the Hockey Hall of Fame, Toronto, Ontario. I had the pleasure of presenting the Dell EMC IT Transformation Story as part of the program. I spent some time with Jeff Smith (@JeffSmithVCE), Dell EMC CPSD CTO between the presentations and faceoff. Converged Platforms are enabling our customers to address both IT and Digital Transformation. Jeff talks Converged and Hyper-Converged and how our customer conversations have evolved since the early days (2009) and how Hyper-Converged conversations are redefining what customers can expect from Dell EMC. After that, I had the opportunity to talk to Patrick Harkins, CTO Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. Patrick found himself facing poor application performance and unhappy doctors, specifically related to a Meditech application. The answer? XtremIO – While the All-Flash Performance provided 60-70% performance gains, he found the real value in the in-line data services and scale-out architecture
