After a week stuck in the puzzle basement Justin is finally back and, like always, it feels like it was so much longer than just a week. The chat starts out with a little talk about Saturday’s video game stream on Twitch where Doug and the Discord crew played the Back for Blood Beta. Needless to say, Doug was not pleased with this game. After Doug swallows up his disappointment he and Justin start talkin’ Disney theme parks because that’s where Justin actually just got back from. This week the boys are back in town and they’ve got an itch to converse.  This episode starts off with some hot talk about some chonky dogs with some bad attitudes that brought out the best/worst of Old Man Doug.  This leads to a conversation on some of Doug’s parenting highlights.  As Doug is talking about things he’d like to instill in his daughter, talk of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics comes up and a can of worms is opened. In this week’s episode, the boy’s return from an unexpected one week break due to a multitude of issues (looking at you Comcast). The show starts off with a recap of all kinds of things ranging from Doug’s burp flavors to the gift of mustard. After a discussion of the trials of last week, the boys dig into the topic of Anthony Bourdain’s voice being digitally reconstructed and used to speak quotes he wrote in a new documentary about his life. They break down the internet uproar about it and the implications for this kind of technology. On this week’s episode the boys kick things off with Doug trying the hot new trend of watermelon and mustard. It’s then revealed that Doug’s mustard had expired 2 years ago which spurs a donation drive to buy him some new mustard. Once the donations dry up, the boys move on to the story of Marvel editing the WandaVision post credits scene which makes Doug angry with nerds. This eventually spins off into a discussion about film and television franchises and their desire for more chances to be taken. This week the boys have a pair of very special guests, the creators of the aLiveShow stand-up comedy open mic app, Forrest Haigh and Ruben Cagnie. The guys start off fielding questions from the chat such as, “Who was your favorite superhero?” This leads to talk about a now recurring theme of He-Man and the Thundercats, among others. After the housekeeping is all done the guys get into the meat of the show and start hearing more about the aLiveShow app, which is a full spectrum social media app based around stand-up comedy and supporting stand-up comedians. It works as a kind of incubator to try out jokes in front of audiences as well as a meeting place to network with other comedians. This week the boys welcome the comedic duo and frequent contributors, Chris and Matt, of the Chris and Matt Show (or of The Chris and Matt since the rebranding) - the brains behind Life After Thanos Snapped. The fellas from Hollywood Already Did It join Doug and Justin and two worlds that have ran almost parallel finally collide when these guys talk about how they break down movies, comics and TV. The four nerds talk about how watching your friends or older siblings play video games when you were younger laid the groundwork for platforms such as Twitch, how Pokémon is ethically questionable in many regards, and how the Marvel shows on Disney+ offer more complex stories and characters, very much like those found in comic books. This week the podcast was honored to welcome back the prolific Mr. Tex of Tex Talks Battletech and The Black Pants Legion Podcast (“The #1 BPL Podcast. Fuck you Berkley Public Library”). The podcast starts off with a bang as Tex talks about his recent happenings including buying a machine gun. This of course naturally leads to a proposal for a petting zoo/flamethrower range to facilitate Tex’s next purchase.
