Doctor Who: The Sonic Toolbox

Here we review "The Doctor's Daughter". This is also the last recording before The Great Illness of The Fall of 2016. We're really grateful for your patience and support in our long absence from your feeds. Daisy was sick for almost 6 weeks with some unknown, non-deadly, annoying, cold/flu like ick and just didn't have the energy to edit and post. Then came the make up work for work, which again, took time away from this show. Life is finally getting back to mostly normal and Daisy is once again able to do her podcasterly job.  We thank you for your support.

Daisy went to The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes this week It was so much fun, she just had to tell everyone about it.

Though we wind up talking more about the psychology of androids than their workings, it seems Cheryl has completely missed all the android SF stories. Let the education begin! And Gally news. 

We're here to talk about Androids of Tara, but before we can get to that we get carried away geeking out about books we've read. But get to it we do. And boy, do we have a lot to say. Plus some news.

We're taking a look at The Master in all his (her?) glory. From Delgado to Gomez; we talk about our first, our favorite, our most annoying. and everything in between.

It's the end of the Universe as we know it. It's all about the 10th Doctor episode "Utopia" this week. But don't worry, you are not alone.

Hyperspace is only a theory and a Science Fiction concept. But for us it's as real as last week's Doctor Who episode.And the subject of this week's show. We've also got a tiny bit of Gally news. And the usual rabbit chasing.   (Sorry we're late posting this. Technical issues, natch.)

It's the third story in the Key To Time series, Stones of Blood, that we're reviewing this time out. It's our favorite of the Key to Time stories and we've been looking forward to picking it apart. Before we get to that, tho, the hot weather has our rabbits running for cooler temps in the form of the new fall TV shows here in the US. Kahler-Tek, known now as "The Gunslinger", kind of looks like a Borg. It got us thinking that perhaps his technology was similar enough to use as a jumping off place for this discussion. Black holes appear in lots of TV shows and movies. Doctor Who being no exception. Here in the Toolbox, we like black holes a lot more than we do those last two episodes we reviewed. And we want to impart our fascination with this cosmic phenomenon to you. As it turns out, we also want to take you on a merry rabbit chase.   We also have news. OMG! News in the summer time? Yes! Cheryl has survived the flu! She's back and we can get on with the program. Today we review the 10th Doctor two-parter, The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit.  We're also talking about the race for Gally hotel rooms that recently occurred. And Daisy's boyfriend, Grant, makes an unexpected appearance to put his two cents in, and talk briefly about the Marvel/Netflix show, "Jessica Jones". But first, a bit of rabbit chasing...

This is not the show you expected. Cheryl has called in sick, so Daisy is taking over all by her lonesome.  Being that there is no Cheryl to talk to and no real Doctor Who news, this is a review of the newly released movie "Captain America: Civil War".  Why? Because Daisy just saw it, so why not.  The review is mildly spoilery, but no plot or specifics are revealed.  Nothing that gives anything away, at least.

The Nestene Consciousness is the big, plastic baddie from the Third and Ninth Doctor's eras. You know, the ones that turned Rory into the plastic Centurion.  We're talking about who they are and how they exist. We're also, apparently, talking about everything else that comes to mind as well. Doctor Who telling us that we must be afraid of ordinary things started early. Like 1970s early. Like the Third Doctor telling us we should be afraid of yellow plastic flowers. Daffodils to be exact. Plastic daffodils. The ones being handed out by... AUTONS!! Terrifying, really.  And so we review "Terror of the Autons" just in time for Spring.  It must be spring, the rabbits are out in force and multiplying like, well, rabbits. The Moment. A self aware weapon of mass destruction. Just how does that work? I fact, there's a whole bunch of questions about it's existence. We've gotten so excited at meeting the War Doctor, John Hurt (Daisy: photo op, Cheryl: autograph), that we decided to rewatch Day of the Doctor.  So here we are, talking about the other three doctor special all over again. This time we're just focusing on the stuff that we found of particular interest to us rather than giving an overall review of the whole show.
