Best-Selling Author, Rejection, Divorce, Starting Over, and Falling In Love with Mark Leslie
25/02/2021 Duration: 01h01minEven in his earliest memories, the concept from the Spider-Man comic books of "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" resonated with Mark Leslie Lefebvre. It might have been because he self-identifies with the meek and nerdy Peter Parker; because it definitely wasn’t an affinity to spiders. He’s still deathly afraid of them. Not to mention the dark. But despite not ever having any power, he always took that responsibility seriously. Mark fell in love with storytelling and with writing and followed that dream with an unwavering conviction. Along the way, he learned to embrace rejection, failure, false starts, and loss as stepping stones on the larger journey. At the age of 45, his near 20-year relationship and marriage ended with the wife and mother of his only child saying she no longer loved him. Shortly after, he was faced with an insurmountable brick wall in the corporate world which he was forced to leave and he had to re-invent himself as an entrepreneur. In a short time

23/02/2021 Duration: 01h04minI was a hyperaware child - intelligent and creative I first remember extreme depression at 13 - probably not a coincidence, hello hormones - dysfunctional childhood, but out of respect to mum, will frame as I took in data that didn't serve me The shrink says that's probably when bi-polar triggered. I remember thinking there had to be better options out there - highly imaginative, evidence of slight mania in hindsight. Chaotic work experience - never lasted more than two years, always motivated by avoiding depression, and growth, as well as whatever I was passionate about - I never made it through university - just didn't have the ability to persevere back then. Some jobs - customs officer, actor, copywriter, alternative radio station, voice-overs, animal welfare officer, swim school admin, realtor, wanted to be a funeral director at one point, tv & film production course, music magazine, sales, museum event coordinator, Tokyo newspaper, English to Ja

From an abusive relationship and low self-esteem to dancer and author with Jennifer Anne Gordon
05/02/2021 Duration: 55minIn 2004 I moved to the mid-west to be the person I thought I would spend the rest of my life with. The relationship quickly soured, he was jealous, possessive moody, a chronic liar, emotionally abusive, and eventually physically abusive. I lost any confidence I had in myself. I had been an actress and performer, and an artist, and after several years with him, I was a broken person, too scared to even leave the house. Depression and fear we retaking over my life. I wanted more than anything to learn to ballroom dance, there was a studio close to my home and it took years to build up courage enough to walk in those doors. Poverty and a Mom on disability, drugs and football with Eddie Thomason
25/01/2021 Duration: 57minI was born and raised in Baltimore, MD in a family that struggled with poverty for generations. My dad left when I was 8 years old and it forced my mom to take care of me and my brother on a $13k/year disability income. Growing up in my neighborhood, its an unspoken belief that the only way "out" is to 1 of 3 options: Become a successful athlete Become an entertainer (rapper, singer, dancer, actor, etc) Or sell Drugs. I chose option 1 but fell short of making it to the NFL. However, along the way I was able to become the first student in my high school's history (Chesapeake High School - BC) to ever earn a D1 scholarship. That scholarship allowed me to become the first male in my family to graduate from college. These two milestones were crucial for changing my family legacy forever! Today, I'm an inspirational speaker in the youth and college/university markets with a mission to help others shed self-limiting beliefs and pursue a life their passionate about l

From avoiding suicide to tapping into the feelings of others with Deneen Joyner
30/12/2020 Duration: 01h35sMy parents used 2 different contraceptives to avoid having a 7th child, I came anyway, lol! I am what is called a divine birth. From the final push from my mother's womb into this world, I never felt like I belonged. I am the black sheep in my family and the outcast in the world, I never fit in despite attempting to give up my identity to try to. I became aware that I was "different" when I was 5 years old because I began to tap into having the access to other's people's feelings and thoughts that surrounded emotional pain and trauma. I was a very wise soul and knew that I should not share these abilities for fear of not being believed and also possibly being sent somewhere far from my family. I learned how to disconnect from not only my feelings but those around me. At the age of 7, my father abandoned me and my 6 sisters and never looked back. I grew up with many tortured soul adults including my mother who suffered from undiagnosed Borderline Personality Disorder (think Mommie Dearest or August Osage County-movies). This was interrupted by a police takedown that would result in a 10-year conviction for armed robbery. With my father incarcerated, my mom moved across the country to a new life and sent for us kids.
