The Clemson Tigers take the field this Saturday in Winston-Salem to (hopefully) kickoff the 2020 football season against Wake Forest. In this annual season preview ep we break down the offensive (6:37), defensive (38:08) and special teams (1:07:34) squads that will lead the Tigers in seeking their 6th consecutive playoff birth, and 5th Nation Championship game appearance in that span, in what is now considered the new glory days of Clemson football. We then wrap with another quick look at the back-loaded regular season schedule and make our predictions for the College Football Playoffs and eventual national champion. Spot the damn ball and Go Tigers!!!

As the end of August Camp nears we are t-minus 3 weeks from the hopeful start of the College Football season and the dust has seemingly settled, for now, on which conferences are opting in or opting out of the 2020 campaign. While the lack of Big 10 participation the sport loses some luster but there is still plenty to be excited about as Trevor Lawrence, ETN, and a reloaded defensive line look to make it back to the playoffs for a 6th straight season. In this ep we discuss the fallout from the Big 10 debacle, catch up on the storylines and standouts on offense and defense two weeks into camp, and continue to search for something to excite us about this years schedule (aside from the fact we’d get to watch football this year). August camp kicked off for the Tigers this week and the ACC released the 2020 schedule, offering a glimmer of hope that we may see a football season this fall. And…We’re Back!!! Coming to you live from SIP and socially distanced, the Pawcast returns for it’s 6th season to discuss whether or not it will take place, and what it might look like if it does. If we do see football this Fall the Tigers will look to bounce back from a disappointing loss to LSU in last year’s National Championship Game, emerging as strong favorites for making their 6th consecutive playoff appearance and 5th title game over that span. 2020 has been a tough year to stomach for all thus far, but hopefully the return of sports will provide a welcome distraction. The Clemson Tigers suffered their first loss in 30 games and failed to defend their national championship last Monday as Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers reigned supreme in New Orleans. The #3 Clemson Tigers staged their 5th biggest comeback in school history on Saturday night as they rallied from a 16-0 deficit before going on to defeat the second ranked Ohio State Buckeyes 29-23 in the College Football Playoff Fiesta Bowl Semifinal. Clemson now heads to the Big Easy to take on the #1 LSU Tigers in hopes securing back-to-back national titles for the first time in school history. MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE PAWCAST!!! The #3 Clemson Tigers make their 5th straight College Football Playoff appearance this weekend in the Fiesta Bowl as the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes look to unseat the defending national champion. Each team will face their toughest test of the season as two statistically elite offenses and defenses will be on display in what stands to be one of the best semifinal match-ups of the CFP era. In this ep we preview a game (4:31) that will showcase two elite QBs whose battle in the recruiting rankings two years ago finally finds its way to the field in Glendale. Justin Fields and the OSU offense will challenge a reloaded Clemson defense that has exceeded all expectations, albeit against vastly inferior competition (16:42). For the 5th year in a row the Clemson Tigers are the champions of the ACC. A 62-17 victory in Charlotte on Saturday night secured Clemson’s spot in the College Football Playoff for the 5th straight time as well as the Tigers continue to defend last year’s title. In this ep we recap the game in which the offense was firing on all cylinders (8:32) but the defense had it’s fair share of hiccups in facing their toughest test to date (22:46). With a 38-3 win in Williams-Brice over the weekend the Clemson Tigers extended their win streak to 6 in their rivalry with South Carolina which has become somewhat of an afterthought given that the Tigers are now one win away from securing a 5th straight berth in the College Football Playoff. With the victory Clemson remained at #3 behind Ohio State and LSU in the penultimate playoff rankings as we head into conference championship weekend. In this ep we “rant” about the rankings, weak schedules, good wins and bad losses and make our predictions as to what the final field may look like come Sunday (2:46). We then reflect on the win over South Carolina as the Tigers continue to prove that they have one of the best offensive (29:32) and defensive (41:29) units in the country. Bye Week Chatter, Playoff Rankings, Rivalry Week by Clemson Pawcast

Clemson blew out Wake Forest 52-3 on Senior Day over the weekend as the Trevor Lawrence sitting in the stands drew more attention from the ABC television crew than did the game on the field. And with a 4th straight victory of 45 points or more the 11-0 Tigers held steady at #3 in the College Football Playoff rankings as the top 7 remained largely unchanged. In this ep we discuss the latest poll and the thinning of the herd after weekend that saw 2 more unbeatens fall and Alabama losing QB Tua Tagovailoa for the season with a hip injury (12:42). When then discuss another dominating performance by both the defense (37:00) and offense (50:24) in the victory over Wake before wrapping with a look at the ACC Coastal (1:03:45). The Clemson Tigers took out their frustrations from being seeded outside of the top 4 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings by handing Dave Doeren and the N.C. State Wolfpack everything they deserved and more in a 55-10 thrashing in Raleigh on Saturday night. That, combined with losses by Alabama and Penn State, placed the Tigers right back where they belong at #3 in the latest poll. In this ep we discuss the rankings and action from over the weekend, ponder how Georgia could possibly be ranked #4 and describe a scenario in which three SEC teams could make it into the playoffs (3:04). Fresh off of a 59-14 foregone conclusion of a victory over the Wofford Terriers on Saturday the Clemson Tigers debut at #5 in the inaugural 2019 College Football Playoff rankings despite winning their 24th game in a row and remaining undefeated since claiming their 2018 title. In this ep we the discuss the rankings, which will inevitably look much different a month from now once the playoff teams are announced, and express no cause for concern of an undefeated Clemson team being left out (7:04). Boston College was the latest victim of a surging Clemson offense and paralyzing defense on Saturday night as the Tigers preyed on the Eagles en route to a 59-7 thrashing on homecoming in Death Valley. The Clemson Tigers continued their free fall in the AP Poll over the weekend as a 35 point win on the road at Louisville wasn’t enough to convince the AP voters that the ROY bus should remain parked in storage. As it turns out Clemson fans joked about it with each other themselves during a 1st half that saw Trevor Lawrence throw two interceptions and with the Tigers exiting up only 3 points more than Alabama was at the half, in Tuscaloosa, over a Tennessee team that had previously lost to Georgia State. And, yes, we acknowledge that Tua left midway through the 2nd half, but Chase Brice > Mac Jones. And we know, we get it, it doesn’t matter. It’s just fun to pick apart the logic... The Clemson Tigers bounced back after a close win against the Tarheels two weeks ago with a dominating performance over a hapless Florida State team, en route to a 45-14 victory in Death Valley on Saturday night. In this ep with discuss what this game meant for the team and the subsequent drop in the AP poll for the second week in a row (1:19). A week removed from a nerve-racking 21-20 victory over a resurgent UNC team in Chapel Hill, Clemson fans are searching for answers, albeit with less urgency having seen this story play out in the past. As it turns out the sky is not falling, despite the slip in the polls, and the #2 Tigers sit at 5-0 with no credible threat to their playoff bid should they finish the season undefeated.
