What an awesome weekend! I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Thunder Over Louisville, but it’s probably in the top 5 things our city is known for, but most people just don’t think of it. We have great things such as The Kentucky Derby, Bourbon, The Louisville Slugger Museum, and College Basketball, but Thunder probably isn’t known to too many folks outside the area. Each year at the start of the Derby season they put on an air show all day and finish it off with one of the largest fireworks shows in the country, FOR FREE. Almost a million people come down for it, and this year we had some of the best weather on record with sunny days and temps in the 70’s. It was awesome. One more week and I’m off to Florida. Traci and I have decided to take advantage of two small children and no school commitments yet and are heading to Florida for some fun in the sun. That means more days in the parks that we’ll get to relive together. Even more exciting, we’re venturing outside the Magic Kingdom on this trip. We’re planning to spend two days this time, day one (March 4) will be at the Magic Kingdom and day two (March 6) will be at Epcot. Our day at the Magic Kingdom is supposed to be a 5 according to Touring Plans, but we’ll do what we can to reduce our waits by using the Lines app by Touring Plans, and we should actually get some good use out of it this time. Our day at Epcot however should be even easier as Touring Plans has it as a 3 on their crowd calendar, meaning we shouldn’t have to wait too much. The ma

Alright I’m done with the snow already. Yesterday was the first time I actually took off for snow here this year, but it’s really starting to wear on me. So much so that I have talked my wife into a spring trip to our favorite warm destination Florida, and probably a day at Walt Disney World, specifically to Epcot for the Flower and Garden Festival. I can’t wait. I’m looking forward to the warmth of the sun, the smell of the flowers, and the hopefully lower crowds the first week of March (Touring Plans has it at like a 5 that week). I want to escape to a happy place, and what better than a vacation in the happiest place on earth Walt Disney World. One of my favorite things to do while visiting the parks is to watch Fireworks. Every trip I take now to the parks ends with Fireworks if possible. If the park I’m in doesn’t have fireworks that evening, I’ll park hop somewhere just to be able to see fireworks. If you haven’t heard, the scuttlebutt on the internet is that they have recently destroyed various SpectroMagic parade floats, taking away any opportunity for the return of this parade in the future. This saddens me greatly as I loved this nighttime parade, possibly even more than the Main Street Electrical Parade. To me, the music is better, and I loved the little guys with the white faces. I can’t believe it’s July already. By the time this comes out, we will have celebrated our Independence Day here in the United States, and are now looking at upcoming summer vacations. Me, I’m not traveling again, not till the unofficial end of summer in September, but that’s fine with me. I’ve had 3 road trips over the last 4 weekends and I’m content to have a nice quiet weekend at home with the family right now. In September though, we’re planning our annual pilgrimage to Florida to spend time with our family and go to the beach in Clearwater. And if you’re in Florida, why would you not also go to Walt Disney World right? That’s right, we’re going to try to get over to Orlando for a day (maybe 2) and have some fun with the kids.
