This Sunday we had a Family Fun & Blessing Service. The first mention of the word “bless” in the Bible is found in Genesis 1:28 when God the Father blessed them with a prophetic word to be fruitful and multiply. The Hebrew word for blessing is “Baruch” which means, "To empower to prosper", and as a church we want to create space to provide blessings to each other. Pastor Andrew provides guidance for creating and giving a blessing, and then the congregation breaks off into their family or friend groups to participate in the practice of blessing.

This week Pastor Andrew builds on the teaching from Todd Hall's Relational Spirituality. Last week, we were introduced to the framework that produces spiritual formation: loving presence → attachment filters → explicit to implicit knowledge → deep growth. This week, we explore the practical rhythms and routines in church life that facilitate Relational Spirituality movements.

Pastor Andrew shares vision with the church and reminds us of the foundational principles that underpin our discipleship approach during this significant season at Southside. He explains how these core values continue to guide our community's spiritual journey and development, while addressing practical ways to implement these principles in our daily lives—all through the lens of our desired outcome this season: Joy.

This week, Pastor Andrew explored how wisdom and generosity emerge from bravely facing our mortality. He shows how these qualities open paths to joy when we understand life's limited nature. Drawing from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, Andrew offers a chance to thoughtfully consider life's fragility and discover joy within that truth.

Pastor Andrew continues our journey through The Joy Refuge Series by exploring the Joy of blessing others this past Sunday! He's also joined by our friend Marcio Padovan, who shares some practical ways we can all bless and honour to those closest to us.

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew continues our discussion on joy with a brief teaching about finding joy in wisdom.

This week, we had the pleasure of having Woro (Aykay) Akara lead our Sunday teaching. With his passion for studying Scripture and gift for teaching, Woro explores the definition of joy and shares practical ways to experience it. His focus is on the enduring joy found in Christ. Drawing from Scripture, including John 16:33, he discusses how our joy transcends fleeting emotions and circumstances, rooted in Jesus' victory. Woro also examines Jesus' teachings on joy from John 14–16 and Paul's insights in Galatians 5:22, helping us reshape our understanding and experience the joy of salvation in our daily lives.

January 19th, 2025 | This Sunday, Pastor Andrew continues teaching on Joy in Generosity, and focuses the attention on relational generosity in Christian community. Alastair Sterne says in his book on Joy that “the space between us is sacred because Jesus dwells among us. We are made to behold him in each other”

Pastor John is a friend of Southside and is coming to share some stories from his life, ministry, and God's Word about missional living alongside the body of Christ.

Sunday, August 4, 2024 Speaker: Rachel Ayala This Sunday we have the exciting opportunity to learn from Rachel Ayala. Rachel is an Elder at Southside and a Psychotherapist by vocation. Rachel is going to talk about identifying cracks in a relationship and what kind of tools God has given us to reconcile towards oneness and unity.

We'll see how the entire plot of the scriptures is to become one and unified under Christ. Starting at home then bleeding out to our communities and into the world.

Starting with the male/female creation story, we'll see how the entire plot of the scriptures is to become one and unified under Christ. Sunday, July 7, 2024 Speaker: Regan Neudorf Regan is the leader of New Ventures in the Canadian Central District of the Alliance Canada. Sunday, June 23, 2024 Speaker: Jim De Marsh This Sunday we have the privilege of having long time Milton Pastor of Milton Bible Church Jim DeMarsh coming to Southside to teach. Jim will be sharing his story of ministry in Milton, talk about unity in the church in Milton, and offer some thoughts on missional living alongside the broader church in the city. Jim has been serving Milton for over 30 years and has an immense amount of wisdom and love to share with our community at Southside.

Sunday, June 16, 2024 Speaker: Andrew Wood This Sunday Pastor Andrew will transition us from the Practicing The Way teaching series to a new one called Milton.Church. In this talk Pastor Andrew will highlight the necessity of community in our Spiritual formation and invite us to broaden our involvement in the local Church to produce unity amongst the Body in Milton. Connected to this teaching series is an invitation to be involved with a new initiative in Milton called Milton.Church. This initiative is a missional strategy of spreading the practical love of Jesus in our neighbourhoods through hyper local partnerships and intentional missional living.
