  • Aftermath

    18/07/2016 Duration: 45min

In the wake of the mass shooting of police officers in Dallas, Texas last week, I've experienced several things in the aftermath.  This weekend, I'm doing an episode on what is typically an "off-week" for the show.  I wanted to record and get this out while the memories and experiences are still fresh.   This week, I talk about the overwhelming show of support from our nation and our area.  I had the opportunity to work in downtown Dallas last Tuesday for the memorial service that included speeches by President Obama and former President Bush.  At that event, and at various other times and places I received numerous handshakes, hugs, words of encouragement and support, and a show of solidarity from our citizens that has at times brought me close to tears.  I also want to share other instances of support and encouragement that I have been informed of or have direct knowledge of from others.  This week's episode is titled "Aftermath", but that is not a bad thing.  I'm going to talk about the memorial as well as

When a recruit graduates the academy, they come out with all kinds of head knowledge and physical training.  However, there is a process for them to take what they've learned and apply it to real life and real calls on the street.  Field Training Officers are the facilitators of this process.  Keith has been a Field Training Officer since 2007 and has trained numerous rookie officers.  What is that like?  What are some of the interesting stories of those training phases?  Keith shares this, as well as what a typical very first day on patrol is like when he is training.  Also discussed in this episode are some interesting calls since the last show and much more.   Don't forget you can follow the show on Facebook (Cop Life Podcast), Twitter (@CopLifePodcast), and Snapchat(coplifepodcast).   Feel free to email Keith with any questions you would like answered on the show or any suggestions of topics you would like to hear covered in future episodes.  The email is TheCopLifePodcast@gmail.com

  • Cop Life: The Re-Launch!

    11/04/2016 Duration: 13min

Wow!  It's been awhile.  But Cop Life is back!   The show went on a hiatus and I actually planned on ending it altogether.  But, I really really wanted to bring it back so I’m going to fill you in on why we stopped putting out episodes and what you can expect moving forward.   First of all…..I want to speak to those of you who were faithfully following the show before:  There were many of you that were involved and engaged.  We were emailing back and forth, you were following the social media accounts…and for all rights and purposes I feel like I abandoned you.  I did change the website for awhile and posted a paragraph message stating the show was ending and blah blah blah, but you folks deserved better than that and from the bottom of my heart, I apologize.  I hope you will give me another chance. To those of you that are new and just checking out the show, I want to say “thank you”!  I’m glad you are here and I hope you find the show entertaining and insightful.   But moving forward:  What can you expect?
