  • Inside the Religion Issue

    01/04/2016 Duration: 55min

The feature package in our April issue began with a question: just how Catholic is Cincinnati? The city has numerous Catholic institutions that make Cincinnati seem very Catholic. But as we discovered and discuss on the podcast, the answer isn't so simple. We also talk about how religion in the city is changing before talking about Justin's feature on the controversial Gladstone Community Church. Then, we talk with associate managing editor Alyssa Konermann about her examination of the fictional marketing creation known as Blaise Bender. Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes and feel free to give us a rating and review, assuming you don't think the podcast is garbage.

  • Live at the Lodge: Reds Misery and Burgers

    29/03/2016 Duration: 01h01min

The Reds are not going to be very good at baseball this year. Vegas has their expected season win total set at 71, which actually seems optimistic given the fact that any member of the opening day rotation could walk down the street without even so much as a second glance from diehard Reds fans. Still, Opening Day is a unique Cincinnati spectacle and even when the team is lousy, going to GABP on a warm summer evening can still be a good time. We talk about the upcoming baseball season, our burger preferences, meet a new friend, and also touch on the April feature package, which asks this question: just how Catholic is Cincinnati? This episode was recorded live at the Overlook Lodge in Pleasant Ridge on Monday, March 28. To attend our next live recording, stop by the Overlook Lodge again on Monday, April 25 at 7 pm. And don't forget to give us a kind rating and review on iTunes.

  • Forkopolis: Jean-Robert de Cavel and Jeff Mathews

    17/03/2016 Duration: 01h13min

When Jean-Robert de Cavel arrived in Cincinnati 22 years ago, the dining scene was remarkably different than it is today. From working at the dearly departed Maisonette to opening his own restaurants, de Cavel has had a front row seat to the city's food transformation. We sat down with him at his restaurant, Jean-Robert's Table, and talked about his experience in Cincinnati. Later, we sat down with dining critic Jeff Mathews to talk about when he started thinking critically about food and why a Chinese buffet is the perfect last meal. Don't forget to subscribe to the Cincinnati Magazine podcast on iTunes.

  • Live at the Lodge: Chili and Trivia

    12/03/2016 Duration: 52min

In Cincinnati Magazine's first-ever live podcast, Adam and Justin meet new friends, discuss the cultural importance of the chili parlor, and ask trivia questions about movies that are already old news. This episode was recorded live at the Overlook Lodge in Pleasant Ridge on February 29, so please excuse all the outdated references.

  • Inside the Top 10 Restaurants Issue

    24/02/2016 Duration: 45min

In a city with a rapidly growing culinary scene, how exactly do you decide which restaurants to rank in the top 10? We talked with dining editor Joanne Drilling about the machinations behind selecting where to eat in Cincinnati. Before that, we talk about Justin's story on the dominant UC Dance Team and assess our own dance skills. (Spoiler: we've got moves for days.) And make sure to check out a live recording of the podcast at the Overlook Lodge in Pleasant Ridge on Monday, February 29 at 7 pm.

  • Forkopolis: A Poutine Appreciation

    08/02/2016 Duration: 26min

For this month's issue, digital editor Amy Brownlee searched the city for poutine in all its different shapes and sizes, with her Canadian husband Tim being the judge of poutine authenticity. Since Tim has a lifetime's worth of experience being Canadian, associate editors Adam Flango and Justin Williams decided to sit down over a meal of poutine and discuss the finer points of the Canadian delicacy and ascertain its place within the country's culinary landscape.

  • Inside the Hidden Cincy Issue

    28/01/2016 Duration: 46min

The February issue of Cincinnati Magazine is filled with 51 items located throughout the region that you may have overlooked. We talk with director of editorial operations Amanda Boyd Walters about how she helped curate the list of Hidden Cincy items and discussed what hidden finds we were particularly surprised by. But before that, we talk about the story behind the story of Prince Sammons and his journey to America.

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: The End

    13/01/2016 Duration: 51min

The Bengals have made losing in the playoffs an art form, but not some ornate 17th century piece on display at the Louvre. It's more like Andy Warhol's famed "Piss Paintings" where the artist actually urinated on canvas and called it art. In just about the most soul-crushing way possible, the Bengals failed to win a playoff game yet again. Associate editors Justin Williams and Adam Flango relive the moments through the eyes of morose Bengals fans (including a special guest!) and a happy Steelers fan. We understand that this is the last podcast you want to hear, but we gave it to you anyway, so use this to pod to soak in your tears.

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: Wild Card Week

    06/01/2016 Duration: 44min

It was always meant to happen this way. The Bengals face the Steelers for a third time this season, with ghosts of playoffs past lingering in the shadows. Cincinnati and its fans are trying to exorcise the demons of 10 years ago, and the Steelers are attempting to play spoiler yet again. Needless, to say, we here at the Fulcher 2 Stay podcast are conflicted. So listen to this week's episodes for thoughts on A.J. McCarron's confidence, Antwon Blake's incompetence, and a grand theory about Andy Dalton. Email thoughts and feelings to fulcher2stay@gmail.com.

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: Week 16

    29/12/2015 Duration: 38min

So it turns out A.J. McCarron may not actually be headed to the Hall of Fame. The Bengals lost to the Broncos on Monday Night Football, putting their hopes of securing a first round bye in a rather precarious position. Are the Bengals resigned to yet another year of the narrative that they can't win in the playoffs? Because if so, we here at the Fulcher 2 Stay podcast are not excited about it, for very different reasons. Send your feelings on Keith Wenning to fulcher2stay@gmail.com

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: Week 15

    23/12/2015 Duration: 36min

In a game that sullied the exciting reputation of paint drying, the Bengals emerged victorious in San Francisco, setting up a pivotal matchup with the Broncos this Monday. The real question though is just how good is AJ McCarron? He's already proven to be better than Andy Dalton (undefeated as a starter) and looks to be on the same trajectory as the likes of Elway, Montana, Brady, and Manning. But is it possible that comparison is an insult to McCarron? Yes, it certainly is. Email your thoughts on whether or not the Hall of Fame should waive the five-year waiting period and induct A.J. McCarron while he's still active at fulcher2stay@gmail.com

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: Week 14

    15/12/2015 Duration: 42min

Our script for the movie about the Super Bowl run for the 2015 Cincinnati Bengals has taken a dramatic turn. With one swift thumb to the knee/thigh region, the Bengals dramatically damaged what was one of the most promising seasons in team history. In the episode, we pick up the pieces following Andy Dalton's injury and assess what the future holds for a Bengals team that now features three prominent players named A.J. Email your sob story to fulcher2stay@gmail.com

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: Week 13

    09/12/2015 Duration: 44min

The Bengals destroying the Browns is hardly worth discussing, so this we discuss the likelihood that Andy Dalton's optimal mode of seduction is acoustic guitar, the love lives of Tyler Eifert and Kevin Huber, and predict the result of this weekend's clash against the Steelers. • Fulcher 2 Stay: Week 12 with Jim Owczarski

    01/12/2015 Duration: 44min

Rather than focusing on another boring Bengals win, we here at Fulcher 2 Stay decide to take a look at a few interesting numbers that help explain the Bengals run to 9-2. Then Justin talks with Jim Owczarski about injury luck, Tyler Eifert's historic season, and the eternal quest to interview Geno. Email the pod at fulcher2stay@gmail.com and find us at cincinnatimagazine.com.

  • Fulcher 2 Stay Podcast: Week 11

    25/11/2015 Duration: 29min

As we discussed in last week's Fulcher 2 Stay Podcast, the Bengals rarely lose when Andy Dalton plays well. Well, Sunday night's loss to the Cardinals proved to be one of the rare instances where Dalton's solid play didn't translate into a win. The fickle thing is, had the team not shit the bed against Texans, this loss would have been perfectly acceptable and maybe even respectable considering the competition. As it were, some panic has set in among this tortured fanbase, but we here at the Fulcher 2 Stay Podcast are staying calm.

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: Week 10

    18/11/2015 Duration: 30min

The 2015 Cincinnati Bengals have finally joined the ranks of the defeated. After a 10-6 loss to the Houston Texans and noted Bengals slayer T.J. Yaters, a loss that recalled nightmares of the Bad Andy Dalton from years past, associate editors Justin Williams and Adam Flango look at what exactly went wrong. But more importantly, they analyze the greatest postgame war of words in NFL history.

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: Week 9

    10/11/2015 Duration: 39min

Another routine win has put the Bengals at 8-0, halfway to the undefeated season that the Mayans predicted eons ago. Associate editors Adam Flango and Justin Williams touch briefly on the victory against the Browns, but also predict outcome for the remaining eight games. All the while, they contemplate the role of the quarterback guru. Send Bengals thoughts to fulcher2stay@gmail.com

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: Week 8

    04/11/2015 Duration: 28min

It took seven weeks, but the Bengals finally played a pretty bad football game. Andy Dalton fell back into old, intercept-y habits, penalties cost the team valuable yards, and sure scoring chances were squandered. But the end of the narrative was unfamiliar: the Bengals won. That it came against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the only other team in the division within shouting distance of first place, made it even better. Justin Williams and Adam Flango look at just how the Bengals managed to find a win in an ugly, sloppy game. Email the guys with any questions or comments at fulcher2stay@gmail.com

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: Casting the Bengals Movie

    27/10/2015 Duration: 01h14min

With the Bengals on a bye last week, we here at Fulcher 2 Stay thought it would make the most sense to capitalize on the inevitable Super Bowl run by the Bengals and cast the movie that will most certainly be made about this year's team. So we called up our old friend Justin Lin, signed him up as director, and took casting upon ourselves. Email your casting thoughts to fulcher2stay@gmail.com and we'll take them up with Justin. Find all of our Bengals content at cincinnatimagazine.com/fulcher2stay

  • Fulcher 2 Stay: Week 6 with Lindsay Patterson

    20/10/2015 Duration: 48min

Heading into their bye week, the Cincinnati Bengals are tied for the best start in team history with a 6-0 record. Now, the team hasn't played many particularly exciting games over that stretch, but maybe that's a good thing for Marvin Lewis and his army of clones. Associate editors Adam Flango and Justin Williams talk about the win over the Bills, Andy Dalton's historic pace, and nakedness in the locker room. The guys are also joined by Beyond the Stripes co-host Lindsay Patterson. Email the guys with suggestions on who you would like to cast in the movie about the 2015 Cincinnati Bengals at fulcher2stay@gmail.com and find more Bengals coverage at cincinnatimagazine.com.
