John 1:1-18 - Behehld His Glory

Hebrews 2:9-18 - Born to Die

Colossians 1:25-2:15 - In the weeks before Christmas we want to consider why Jesus is the reason for the season. Why is He so special? How does His incarnation make a practical difference in our lives? How is it that the incarnation of Jesus Christ can actually affect my work, my play, my marriage, my family and my personal problems? Paul addresses many of these issues very pointed in his letter to the Colossians.

Galations 5:13-6:5 - How do you know the difference between living and acting in the power of the flesh or by the power of the Holy Spirit when you are engaged in routine daily Christian activities? In this message we will attempt to explore some of the tell tale signs that mark the activity of the Holy Spirit in our lives versus functioning in the natural man or fleshly nature.

Romans 7:14-25 - Most of us have heard throughout our Christian experience that we have two natures and that we will live in conflict between those two natures as long as we are on this earth. But, Paul does not mean by the flesh these human bodies, nor does he leave us with despair over a struggle that will never end. The triumphant note in verse 25 carries us into Romans 8 and a wonderful life in the Holy Spirit.

Romans 7:1-13 - The Power of the Cross in My Life. An overview from Romans 7 on how Jesus sets me free from the Law.

Romans 6:15-23 - Beginning Life in the Spirit. Truly understanding this resurrection life in Jesus Christ and the freedom that it brings raises some interesting questions. One of these questions includes shall we continue in sin because we are living in grace? Merely asking the question exposes a failure to understand the deeper work of Christ, while affirming that we have, indeed, understood Paul correctly on the nature and scope of grace! In this sermon we will explore both grace and freedom and the heart attitude Jesus produces in us.

Romans 6:12-14 - A Living Sacrifice. Understanding the marvelous work Jesus did on the cross to solve our problems with the sin nature, we must now appropriate this work by faith in an act of dedication, once and for all, wherein we offer ourselves to God and all the members of our mortal body as His instrument to be filled and controlled by His Spirit in this resurrected life we have in Jesus. This is a decisive act of the will, also executed on the basis of faith.

Romans 6:12 - Understanding What Is Possible! A practical look at applying Romans 6:12.

Romans 6:5-11 - Paul is laying a foundation in these verses for us to understand how it is possible to be joined to Jesus Christ in His resurrection and indwelt by His Spirit in order that we might live free from the power of sin. It is the second point in the gospel. Not only am I forgiven, I am set free to be a new person, a person who is pleasing to God in deed and fact.

Romans 6:1-4 - Paul wants us to understand some very important spiritual truths in Romans 6. These truths are things that happened to us at the time of our conversion in the realm of spiritual reality that are not readily apparent to outward observation. We must understand these spiritually real events and believe by faith that they are true before we can truly begin to live a Spirit-filled life. All of the practical teaching about walking in the power of the Spirit that follow is based upon these important realities.

Romans 5:12-21 - Jesus, as our Savior, must provide a remedy for our natural bent toward sin. He has made a new birth possible, rendering powerless the effects of our firth birth in Adam's nature, and in the gift of righteousness which He provides, he also gives an unending supply of grace for the production of God's character in us!

John - Freedom in Christ

Hebrews 4:4:1-3a, 6, 11 - The Rest of God breaks the average cycle of most Christian's lives. This cycle includes Try, Fail, Discouragement, Confession and Repentance. There are many hindrances that prevent us from enjoying this rest that God wants to give us. Some of them are ignorance, refusal to let god of our personal agenda and a desire to use God for one's own end. Entering the Rest of God means leaning to love Him, not learning to use Him!

Hebrews 4:1-13 - So few Christians today truly understand why God has saved them or how they are to walk in Christ. They trudge through their Christian life with sincere efforts at well doing but with frustration, defeat and weariness. Many are tired and have given up. Others are not even aware that the Lord has so much more for them. Some have resigned themselves to a life in the desert between Egypt and the Promised Land, but the one who has entered God's rest has rested from his own self efforts.

Romans 5:1-11 - So what does faith in Jesus Christ obtain for us? It admits us to the presence of God and gives us right standing before Him because our sins have been removed and grants us access to the life of faith to follow wherin we may be transformed into the character God designed us to have. This relationship with God on the basis of faith begins to make sense out of our trials and tribulations, because, just like Abraham, the challenges we face become a faith adventure with God which develop this new character!

1 Peter 3:15 - George Barna recently wrote that only nine percent of born again Christians have a Biblical worldview. This means that less than one out of ten Christians age eighteen or older believes that absolute truth exist, believes that such truth is contained in the Bible, and possesses a handful of core beliefs that reflect such truth. These beliefs include a certainty that the Bible is accurate in its teachings, that Jesus lived a sinless life on earth, Satan is real, not symbolic, that all believers are responsible for sharing their faith in Christ with others, that the only means to salvation is through God's grace and that God is the all-knowing and all-powerful creator of the universe who still rules it today. This sermon takes a look at what a Biblical worldview is, why Christians need one and what Christians must do in order to have one.

Romans 4:1-25 - Abraham is the prime example of God's plan for righteousness by faith alone. This father of the faithful, and father of all Jewish, Muslim and Christian morality, was declared righteous by God on the basis of his faith alone before he was circumcised. He is truly the father of those who live by faith.

Romans 3:27-31 - The righteousness which comes by faith excludes both works as well as any right to boast. Christians should be the most humble people because we have eternal life, and we did nothing to deserve it. Our goal in this passage of Scripture is to understand that there is absolutely no room in the Christian life for spiritual pride.

Romans 3:23-26 - The Justice and Mercy of God meet beautifully in the person of Jesus Christ. This is important to understand as we follow the Apostle Paul's explanation of justification by faith!
