The second run of Rocky Jordan is now based in Cairo instead of Istanbul when A Man Named Jordan was heard over the air. Jack Moyles (right) still stars. The new series had more of a detective feel to it than the first run. The sites and sounds heard in the series were very reminiscent of a Cairo street and the excellent scripts provided for some very well produced episodes.

A look at an intriguing adventure serial that attempted to sound as authentic as its Istanbul locale would allow. Initially a five-times-a-week adventure, it later became a weekly detective oriented serial moving the locale from Istanbul to Cairo. Throughout the series, Jack Moyles right) starred as Rocky.

One of the better achievements of radio drama was its horror and suspense programs. This weekâs radio play is from one of the best known of the horror radio genre â Lights Out. The episode I am going to present is called âMr. Maggsâ from 1942. Though heavy on the melodrama, the play does have strong horrific elements. It was written by Lights Out director and chief writer, Arch Oboler (right).

This week, a short-lived, but interesting thriller adventure from the tales of the OSS!  Raymond Edward Johnson (right) was the announcer and the radio repertory group included many veteran radio actors. The series is based on a book about the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) the precursor to the CIA by Alastair MacBain and Corey Ford.

This week, a look at one of Peter Lorre's (right) greatest radio appearances on his summer replacement series - Mystery in the Air. The series was a showcase for Lorre and he rises to the occasion in one of fictions best known classic horror stories - The Horla, by French writer, Guy de Maupassant.

Well, Christmas is coming and this week I offer two items. An unusual Christmas story from the pen of Wyllis Cooper (right) for his Quiet, Please series from 1948.
