What is something that you do when you are tired and weary? What kind of people do you surround yourself with (or avoid?) Take the temperature of world events, news, and social media and the diagnosis is clear: the world is weary. If you could prescribe one thing to treat the weariness of the world, what would it be? Would that prescription involve you? Listen in as Communications Pastor Michael DiMarco preaches from Acts chapter one and challenges us to be a part of God's prescription for a weary world!

Everyone loves the energy, excitement, expectation and enthusiasm of a parade. People gather, there's a festive atmosphere, community is created and people are celebrating the joy and fun of the floats, the marching bands, the drill teams, celebrities and all the other aspects of what a parade represents, reminds us about, and recognizes on certain important days of the year. We gather on parade days to commemorate, acknowledge, and be involved in a shared experience of being together and anticipating "who's coming down the parade route" in grand procession. On this Palm Sunday, we are going to look at an amazing and phenomenal parade that took place at the beginning of the final week of Jesus' life here on earth. We will gather as a congregation with excitement, enthusiasm and expectation of what that Triumphal Entry meant for those who were there and what it means for us today as we seek to commemorate, acknowledge and experience together "A Picture of Peace on Parade." Children can listen to the same story again and again and be just as fascinated the 50th time as they were the 1st. They retell stories during their play times. They live out life through the stories they’ve been told. Stories are what we use to make sense of the world around us. But what if our stories are partial stories, incomplete stories, broken stories? How would God change a broken story into a new story? Listen to the story of Jesus and Lazarus, and hear how God uses a holy disruption to tell a new story. Read John 11:1-45 to prepare.

Not everyone within the borders of a country is a true and loyal citizen. The same can be true within the church. The Bible teaches that Christians are citizens of heaven, which means that we must learn not only how to speak with heavenly words, but also to walk in a heavenly way. THE defining moment in our lives will be when we stand before Jesus as our Judge. There is nothing more crucial than being ready for that moment and helping others be ready as well. That moment means everything. In Luke 19:11-27, Jesus told a parable that captures the full meaning of this moment for every person in history. The pressing question we must ask ourselves is, “Are we ready?”

There are times when every believer feels disappointment with God. Even though we haven’t lost our faith, in our most honest moments, we are willing to admit that it’s hard to pray. It’s hard to talk with someone who has dashed our expectations, including God. So, we are tempted to ask the honest question, “Why pray?” In this Sermon, Pastor Ben returns to the pulpit to continue our study of Jesus’ parables in Luke 11:1-13 and 18:1-8, where the Lord teaches us why we should always pray and not give up.

The Parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15 is one of Jesus’ most famous illustrations of the Father’s love for rebellious children. Yet, the parable is really about the Father’s two sons. After receiving a pair of ugly boxers or stale fruitcake, what do we do with these unwanted gifts? Moreover, as we move from 2021 into a new year, how do we process the unwanted “gifts” of change, uncertainty, and loss? Our theme for this Christmas Eve service was hope. You may have heard a hundred sermons on hope over the years, but we will take a step further and consider how to move beyond biblical information about hope toward personal transformation through hope. My wife, Mary, will assist me in sharing the message. She will paint while I preach. Join us, as we learn together what it takes for the hope of Christmas to sustain us every day of our lives.

At every turn in the Christmas event, people were struck with fear—Zechariah, Mary, Joseph, the shepherds. In each case, they were told, “Fear not,” because, as the angels announced on Christmas night, with Jesus’ coming there is peace on earth. But honestly, this declaration of peace doesn’t ring true to life. History, before and after Jesus’ coming, is inundated with war. Jesus’ own life was scarred by conflict, hatred, and deadly violence. Someone has said, “Peace is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.” So, in what way(s) did Jesus bring peace on earth at Christmas?
