Culture says it’s all about you. Christ says deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow me. In dying to ourselves daily we experience more joy than we thought possible.

How do you "see" Jesus? In John 12, Some Greeks who were looking for Jesus stand out against the gospel narrative as unusual in the political landscape of the time. In a culture where there was separate "worship" for the Gentiles at the Jewish temple, these men were a picture of all who want to know God. As these Greeks request to see Jesus, his response is that in order to rightly see him, you have to see his death, burial, and resurrection.

When you are considering a difficult journey, you must know two things: why you must go despite the difficulty, and how to take your first steps.

If Dr. King were alive today, we can assume he would rejoice in the progress that’s been made since his “I Have a Dream” speech, but he would certainly not turn a blind eye to the long road yet to be travelled. Sometimes God calls us to ditch the script of the expected, and take a closer look at who we are, where we’re from, and how we live.

Sometimes God waits until all earthly hope is gone to do his thing, so there is no confusion who is working. Jesus' question to Martha is the same question he poses to you: "Do you believe?" Make sure you're not holding back your "yes".

If resurrection is true...if it’s really possible...if life can spring forth where only death has been...everything changes.

Plenty of things will come against you in this life hoping to separate you from the God who loves you. None of them will succeed. Your shepherd, your father is too strong for that.
