Continuing from last week's study in the book of 1st John, we look into the difference between knowing about God... and knowing God.  The differences might seem trivial, but when played out in the course of a believer's life, the act of actually knowing God through fellowship and obedience to Him, we can see that the difference is actually very stark.  This difference is actually the heart of Christianity, and gives us insight into what God actually requires and desires of us, as opposed to what religion requires.  Listen as Pastor Jason Fritz discusses in this series.

A letter from John, beloved by Jesus, and now a Pastor.  After establishing his credibility of handling the Word of God and the gospel - being a direct disciple of Jesus and having witnessed the miracles and His teachings - he starts to address the current condition of the early church.  The matter at hand is the people's nature of relationship with God... one which should be characterized by holiness. At this moment, there's a disconnect between what God wants for us, and what we want for ourselves.  So now John targets the false doctrines of teachers who fail to address the depths of our sin.  This is a fundamental mistake: the failure to see ourselves as sinners.  If we never see the problem, we'll never seek a cure.   Listen on as Pastor Jason Fritz teaches from this book, 1 John 1:8-2:2.

Fellowship with others is critical to live the life God has planned for us as well having community with God. Pastor Jason Fritz explains the history of why John wrote this passage and how it applies to our life today.  1 John 1:5-10 "This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." The Apostle John combating false doctrine spread by the Gnostics wrote the Gospel of John. Thank you for tuning in!  In this passage of parables, Jesus likens the Kingdom of God to a seed.  Though small in initial size, with a potential for producing great fruit and harvest, the process of this growth is often overlooked.  In this case, the focus is not on merely what can become of a seed, but the ways in which that seed can be disrupted, stolen, suffocated, or... how that seed can flourish beyond compare.  Listen in as Pastor Jason Fritz preaches.

God has given us each gifts He intended for us to use. In The Parable of the Talent Jesus talks about 3 men who were given talents. The men who received 3 and 5 talents doubled what they were given while the man who relied one talent. Thank you for tuning in! Prodded by the religious elite with questions of his authority, Jesus spoke the truths of God in the form of parables. "He who has ears, let him hear." Here's one that could only be understood if ones' hearts are open to hearing. The story of the prodigal son is rich and well known, and yet there's still more to the story than what is typically discussed. Thank you for tuning in!  In the book of Luke, Jesus tells the story of the rich man and Lazarus.  We see a picture of the temporal contrast between rich and poor, and how - in the grips of eternity - such differences are merely conditions that reveal the status of the heart.  One man who is rich on earth can struggle with closeness to God, where one man who is poor in spirit can only depend on His grace and mercies.  Likewise, one who is rich on earth can also be rich in spirit, and one who is poor on earth can also be poor spiritually.  The difference is in the heart!  Listen in as Pastor Jason Fritz draws on the parable that Jesus speaks of. 

Thank you for tuning in.  Tonight we are moving into a new series, the parables that Jesus taught.  Parables are stories that illustrate a strong point of understanding.  Jesus taught in parables.  One of his most famous ones is "The Good Samaritan", and in it, there's a lesson in the difference between the faulty nature of man's aspirations to earn his/her way into heaven by our good works - or our religion - versus leaning on God's grace.  Oh grace, what an amazing, redeeming quality!  Pastor Jason Fritz preaches a wonderful message, tune in!  

Thank you for tuning in!  This week we wrap up the Sermon on the Mount.  In a form true to His nature, Jesus continues to call out the religious elite for their role in leading people away from the true Godhead.  Jesus is the Way, and the only way.   

It is often quoted "Judge not, that you be not judged." What did Jesus mean when he said that? Pastor Jason Fritz explains the difference between condemning and observing, the importance of living a holy life and living in community. Matthew 7:1-6 "Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. 6 "Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.

Thank you for tuning in!  Prayer and fasting is one of the most essential Christian disciplines.  Through it, one comes to grips with the magnitude and omnipotence of the Lord we serve.  Those who pray find doors that are opened in their lives, ones that are inexplainable in any other sense and can only be credited as a God-ordained event.  But how are we supposed to pray?  Well, in a sense... the same way Jesus prayed.  Fortunately for us, Jesus gives us a step by step guideline on how one should both pray and fast, and be effective in doing so.  This keeps a direct line open with God.  This line is, in fact, our lifeline as Christians.  Listen in as Pastor Jason Fritz shares the richness of this passage on Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.
