A letter from John, beloved by Jesus, and now a Pastor.  After establishing his credibility of handling the Word of God and the gospel - being a direct disciple of Jesus and having witnessed the miracles and His teachings - he starts to address the current condition of the early church.  The matter at hand is the people's nature of relationship with God... one which should be characterized by holiness.
