16/11/2016 Duration: 01h03minIn this week's episode of Tiny Giant Losses, we talk about healing with hugs, continue to discuss The Six Steps of Healing, review an art house film about infant death and adoption, and interview Wendy Cruz-Chan, a doula and lactation counselor who has experienced the stillbirth of a son. Wendy is a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor and a Placenta Encapsulation Specialist in New York City. In July 2016, she gave birth to a son, Killian, who was born still at 19 weeks gestation. Following this loss, she pumped breastmilk day and night for three months, freezing each batch. After she reached her goal of 2000 ounces of breastmilk (that’s 62.5 quarts, or over 59 liters), she found six babies in need of milk and donated it to their families. She’s currently fundraising for a cooling cuddle cot for New York Methodist Hospital, which will allow parents to stay with their stillborn babies longer than a few hours before saying goodbye.
