  • Ministry That Pleases God

    14/09/2025 Duration: 31min

What kind of ministry truly pleases God? In 1 Thessalonians 2:1–12, Paul reminds believers that gospel work isn’t about power, prestige, or personal gain—it’s about faithfulness, gentleness, and pointing people to Christ. In this message, we’ll explore how Paul’s example shapes our own service today: living with integrity, sharing the gospel boldly, and caring for others like family.Whether you serve in the spotlight or behind the scenes, this passage calls us to a ministry marked by sincerity, sacrifice, and love—the kind of ministry that honours God.Join us in person each Sunday at 10:00 am at 2458 St Frances Drive. The digital bulletin can be found here: https://calvaryburlington.ca/bulletinIf you are interested in learning more about Calvary, want to connect with us, or interested in learning more, visit https://calvaryburlington.ca/connect-cardTo support this ministry and help us continue to reach people all around the world with the Gospel of Jesus, click here: https://calvaryburlington.ca/give

  • The Gospel Changes Everything

    07/09/2025 Duration: 32min

The gospel does not merely inform us—it transforms us. In Thessalonica, Paul saw the power of God’s Word at work: sinners turned from idols to serve the living and true God, and a fledgling church became an example to all believers. In this passage we see the gospel’s life-changing power (vv. 4–6), its outward testimony (vv. 7–8), and its forward-looking hope (vv. 9–10). True conversion brings a break with the old life, a witness that cannot be hidden, and a steadfast hope in Christ’s return. The gospel changes everything because it brings us into union with Christ, makes us new creations, and redirects our lives toward God’s glory.

  • Grace to Finish Well

    27/04/2025 Duration: 32min

After all the battles, heartbreak, and failure, David’s story draws to a close. In 2 Samuel 22–23, we hear his final words and a song of praise. It’s not a perfect ending—but it’s full of grace. David looks back not with pride, but with gratitude. He knows it was God who sustained him, rescued him, and gave him strength to keep going. These chapters remind us that finishing well isn’t about having a spotless record—it’s about clinging to the faithfulness of God. Even after deep failure, David trusted in the mercy of the Lord. His life points us forward to Jesus—the true King who never failed, and whose grace is enough to help us run our race to the very end.Join us in person each Sunday at 10:00 am at 2458 St Frances Drive. The digital bulletin can be found here: https://calvaryburlington.ca/bulletinIf you are interested in learning more about Calvary, want to connect with us, or interested in learning more, visit https://calvaryburlington.ca/connect-cardTo support this ministry and help us continue to reach pe

  • Grace in the Storm

    13/04/2025 Duration: 39min

When life falls apart, where do you turn? In 2 Samuel 15–18, David finds himself in the middle of a storm—betrayed by his own son, forced to flee, and surrounded by uncertainty. It’s a story of grief, loss, and the painful consequences of past sins. Yet even in the middle of the chaos, we see grace.David doesn’t cling to power—he clings to God. His heart is heavy, but his hope is alive. In the storm, we see glimpses of a King who trusts God’s will, even when it costs him everything. This part of David’s story helps us see our own need for a Saviour who is steady in the storm. One who doesn’t run from suffering but walks through it to bring redemption. That King is Jesus.Join us in person each Sunday at 10:00 am at 2458 St Frances Drive.

  • Grace in the Struggle

    06/04/2025 Duration: 34min

This week’s passage deals with a deeply sensitive and painful story—the tragic account of Tamar in 2 Samuel 13–14. It’s a raw and heartbreaking chapter that confronts us with abuse, injustice, and the devastating silence that followed. We won’t shy away from the weight of this story. Tamar’s voice matters. Her pain matters. And the failure of David to act with justice and courage exposes the brokenness not only in his family, but in the human heart. These chapters remind us that even Israel’s greatest king fell short—passive when he should have pursued justice, silent when he should have spoken. In the grind of human failure and grief, this story leaves us longing for a better King. One who sees. One who defends. One who heals. That King is Jesus.
