Black Men Can't Jump In Hollywood

Natasha Rothwell (Saturday Night Live, Wild'N Out) drops by to review Eddie Murphy's Coming to America. This is Eddie at the height of his Hollywood powers and damn if there isn't a lot to break down. Yes this podcast is just a few minutes shy of the length of the movie, but there's no end to the directions an Eddie Murphy conversation can go. The man is talented and complicated. Natasha has no love for the Swirl but that doesn't stop Jerah. Don't worry everybody: Hancock makes an appearance as always. Next week we controversially review Wild Wild West.

1998 was a simpler time for Wesley Snipes, tax wise, because he wasn't paying them. Also the film world was not yet over run with vampires, pale or otherwise. Enter Blade, the sword slinging, leather jacket rocking, tatt'd up head and hair cut from the future having bad bad dude. The boys break down how nice it was to have something they could dress up as for Halloween and how dope this movie was or wasn't for The Cause. The 1974 Mel Brooks satirical Western "Blazing Saddles" has Jerah furious. Not even the best kind of swirl can temper the blaze that roars inside of him. And try as they do, neither Braylock nor James III can bring him around. But just when you're counting it out, The Cause delivers a stunning review. This also might be the best Hancock drop that James III ever does. Soak it up James! Next week we review Blade.

Denzel Washington won an Oscar for best actor in a movie that he wasn't even the lead in, or was he? He was. Maybe. It's not easy for a black man to win an Oscar. Jerah got himself a Carmel Swirl, which is something like progress. But hey, did Denzel black it up in this movie or is he just Denzel being Denzel? It's a subtle distinction and we're here to make that distinction. The Cause is about as real as it gets this week. Under heavy pressure from Jerah, James sticks to his rating because he's a gentlemen and a scholar. Next week we review Blazing Saddles.

Well, this happened. Keegan-Michael Key showed up like a burst through the comedic heavens and landed in our podcast basement to record the most intense, hilarious, and in depth discussion of the classic Sidney Poitier flick 'In The Heat of The Night.' Key had the knowledge and energy of ten men, which made it impossible to edit a minute of this. I don't think you'll mind. Maybe Black Men Can't Jump in Hollywood, but they did land one of the most dynamic comedic talents of a generation and he truly brought the noise, son! "The Swirl" gets straight up raunchy, but Jerah somehow works #yesallwomen into it.

Hey man, they made Ice Cube the lead of a movie and that movie made about 70 million dollars. There's a lot to break down when you look at the 2002 comedy Barbershop directed by Tim Story. It has an 82% rating on Rotten tomatoes. 82%!?!
