Join guest host Teresa Homsi and professor Troy Hicks as they discuss media literacy - what it is and why it’s important. Hicks is a professor of English and Education at CMU who works with K-12 teachers on implementing media literacy curriculum into their classrooms.

In this first episode of “Every Day is Earth Day,” guest host Teresa Homsi is joined by Maddie Thomas to discuss civic engagement, a broad but imperative concept in implementing sustainable solutions. Thomas is the student coordinator for Central Civics, a program run out of the Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center that works to develop civic skills and promote active citizenship. “Every Day is Earth Day” is a special mini-series that celebrates the spirit of Earth Day with a focus on action through civic engagement, media literacy and opportunities at CMU. This is the podcast’s second-year run with Teresa Homsi, a campus sustainability coordinator with Central Sustainability and Facilities Management
