    31/01/2021 Duration: 39min

The reality check we expected hit home hard in a week where Manchester United took one point away from games against bottom-placed Sheffield United and Arsenal. It leaves United trailing City at the top of the table by three points with Pep Guardiola's team still holding a game-in-hand. Hosts Harry Robinson and Jack Tait look back at two very disappointing results. We'll also give you your regular youth, loan and women's round-up. There's loads to talk about. Teden Mengi is heading out on loan, Garner and Chong have switched clubs and a 17-year-old scored four goals in the under-23s. Oh, and Amad Diallo made his first appearance for United. • S6 E15: Outcoached, outthought. Out.

    09/12/2020 Duration: 39min

Review of a 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig and previewing Saturday's game vs City. "In the two days since we last spoke to you, things have changed. A cautiously positive narrative has very quickly been replaced by despair. Paul Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, or, to put it in Ferguson's words, the 'shitbag', jumped at the chance to remind everyone that Pogba doesn't want to be at United after his client put in one slightly better than average display against West Ham. And then a rampant opening quarter of an hour from Julien Nagalsmann's RB Leipzig exposed every single one of Manchester United's weaknesses. The previously in-form Harry Maguire was guilty of gifting goals away again through his positioning. Luke Shaw returned from injury to do the same. United's midfield without Pogba, who was on the bench, and Fred, who was suspended, could not cope. United's defence looked short of confidence and quality in the fact of a well-drilled attack with a very specific knowledge of how they wanted to score goals. At the othe

  • S6 E11: Analysing Ferguson's defeats, with author John Silk

    17/11/2020 Duration: 39min

"Sometimes in football you have to hold your hand up and say, yeah, they're better than us." Those are the old words of Sir Alex Ferguson. But this is also a man who openly admitted, time after time, "I don't like losing" and said "I tell the players that the bus is moving. This club has to progress. And the bus wouldn't wait for them. I tell them to get on board." The greatest football manager of his era, Fergie is remembered for the victories, an insatiable desire to win, a commitment to glory so thorough and disciplined that he saw off rivals in all shapes, sizes and forms. But what about the defeats? Because there were many. 271 to be precise. Well, Ferguson himself has said the following. "Losing is a powerful management tool so long as it does not become a habit." "You learn more from defeats than you do from victories" In a new book titled Even the Defeats, journalist John Silk tells the story of how the painful moments of Sir Alex Ferguson's reign at Man Utd inspired him to lead the club to its great

  • S6 E7: Hero Rashford, Chelsea & PSG

    25/10/2020 Duration: 38min

Off the pitch, Marcus Rashford is still leading a campaign to end child hunger. Hundreds of cafes, restaurants and businesses across the country are taking on the challenge themselves to help feed children during the upcoming October half-term after the government voted against continuing free school meals into the holidays. He's a national hero. On the pitch, it was Rashford who came up with a powerful and accurate late strike to give Manchester United a sweet and brilliant victory at the Parc des Princes against Paris Saint-Germain. He almost followed it up with another match-winner, against Chelsea on Saturday evening. But the Londoners new goalkeeper Edouard Mendy came up big with two crucial saves and United were held to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford. It's been a good week overall for United. A 4-1 win against Newcastle, a 2-1 win against PSG and a frustrating 0-0 draw against Chelsea. Perhaps the latter is a missed chance to carry on some very good momentum. But United's season has properly started now. We
